I know this section of the forum is rarely visited, but I'm on the blue ridge parkway outlaw camping right now (somehow I have cell service) and headed to Asheville. Wanted to extend an offer in case anyone wants to do the tail of the dragon this week and talk fz/Mt 10.

Mid week, so little traffic! Wish we could have met up and shot the s**t for a while!

Sorry not in area but what are temps/ overall conditions like this time of year? Last year conditions were perfect, but it was cold as balls today. I was planning on camping tonight and it dropped into the 30s while I was sleeping. Even with 3 seasons gloves, my fingers felt like they were about to fall off until 3pm. It should be in the 60s to 80s through the rest of the week so I got a motel room in Asheville and I'm headed there tomorrow.

I feel your pain on camping in the cold. I will say that I found putting on my rain suit at night after waking up freezing seals up nicely. Kind of like an envelope. Warms up quick and loose enough to be comfy. Enjoy.

I did the dragon and cherohala today. The dragon was pretty busy and I was planning on doing a few passes, but I kept getting stuck behind slow riders so I just headed up to the cherohala. I very much preferred the later, but I did get smoked in the corners by a better rider on an Africa twin.

Wanted to extend an offer in case anyone wants to do the tail of the dragon this week and talk fz/Mt 10. We went up to deals gap with 4 bikes on Sunday the 13th, we were trying to decide on which week. Dragon was fine but like you said, traffic held us up more than once (except in the downpour we had the road to ourselves lol) Cherhola was great did that loop twice but the best was 28 hands down! new pavement and very little traffic and hell yeah corners, swtichbacks and a few straights along the river. 600 miles for the 3.5 days we rode and only one wet cpl hours. Wish we had timed it better, not one other FZ-10 though I did see a guy run the dragon on a Ducati Superleggera, and he was a hell of a rider...beautiful bike
