First off let me state that I haven't been blessed in the hind quarters. I'm just about as bony is it gets. I purchased my new '17 almost a month ago. It didn't take long to realize that the stock factory seat would literally be a pain in the butt! I liken it to the factory seat that came with my 02 CBR 954RR. Although the 10's seat is slightly softer than the 954's, it's not by much. That being said, I shelled out the coin and bought a Yami Comfort Seat. The fit and finish is impeccable. However, after logging a couple of hundred miles on the 10 yesterday, I'm pretty much in the same situation that I was in with the factory seat. It's not worth the money...to me.

Everyone is different, I find the stock seat fine for about 100 miles, hey, that's just about the time you have to pull in and fill the tank with 93 octane. A few minutes off the seat and that resets the clock for another stint in the saddle. But some of us seem to have delicate tushies.

I agree 100% the GYTR comfort seat is junk. Both the front corners where it meets the tank ,are torn on mine after 1 season about 7500 miles after spending, what i remember to be around $350. Not happy with it at all, looking into seat concepts seat now. $184 for Foam and Cover kit for stock seat pan sounds good to me, just gotta learn how to wrap a seat...

@ decepticonfz10 I just bought a used one in the parts section. Could you post pictures of the holes in your seat? If possible, I'd like to keep mine from wearing through like that.

I have 3000 miles on my comfort seat. Looks like it did when installed. Fits my butt nicely. Don't know why so many haters of the comfort seat. There is no way I'd do a seat concepts so my passenger has a slide to go right off the back of the bike. They need other passenger options. JMO

JMO From the pictures (I haven't seen one in person), I agree. If I wasn't getting the Yamaha comfort seat, my eyes would be on the overpriced Corbin gunfighter and lady. To be honest, this upgrade is only for my lady. She was done after ~150 miles this weekend. My iron ass has done 20 straight hours on a GSX-R

My seat concepts seat should be arriving back to me tomorrow. I tried to install it myself with no luck at all. Ended up sending the whole thing back to them to do it correctly. I will report back on how great it is after some seat time

I also purchased the Yamaha "Comfort Seat" only to find it was just marginally better, for me anyway. I sent it to KonTour seat to have it re-worked. I haven't spent much time on the seat, as the weather hasn't really turned nice here yet. The little time I have spent on the seat so far, it feels like in contours to my butt better than the comfort seat. The "air cooling" really works, I rode when it was about 50 degrees, the only thing that was cold was my butt. If you want some closer pics, let me know. kontourseat.com/ to upload photos

I have over 6,500 miles on my Yamaha Comfort Seat and its nowhere near as beat up in the pictures above. Its still in like new condition with no holes and is holding up just fine so far. Definitely more comfortable to me than the stock seat. Its personal preference but the comfort seat has been well worth the money and has been pretty durable in my opinion.

But they way my butt felt after a 3 hour ride last summer, it's worth it to me if I can now ride that long and not even think about it. I just hope the gamble was worth it, I'll report back once I have put some more time on the seat.

My comfort seat is still perfect after 1 full year with it. I have 3k miles on it and I weigh 280lbs(fat kid I know). My butt will start to die around the 250 -300 mile mark. I have only taken it 300 in a stretch so far.

Thank you for sharing these pictures. Very helpful! I received my comfort seat and can see where this could become a problem. I may play with some duct/electrical tape ideas under the seat at connection points to try and keep the front from rubbing on the gas tank like your seat has @ decepticonfz10 I just bought a used one in the parts section. Could you post pictures of the holes in your seat? If possible, I'd like to keep mine from wearing through like that. Hopefully you can see them

I think I'll pull the cover of on those corners and trim the plastic back and reattach the cover. That way it won't have that point to rub and protrude.

Trimming back or smoothing out the plastic and reinforcing the cover material in the front corners is the way to go. I'm jus disappointed in the fact that they haven't already done so on it.

I agree Yamaha should have fixed it. It's evident that it's a problem.
