Hey everyone, I’m picking up my brand new 2017 Yamaha FZ-10 on Tuesday. I got it in the matte black color, and I’m super excited to start riding. This will be my 4th motorcycle, my second naked bike. Located in Ontario, Canada! So great to be a part of this wonderful forum! Cheers

The weather is starting to warm up, it’s going be to 11 degrees celcius on Tuesday. It’s a two hour ride home from the dealership!

Will post some pictures on Tuesday, I had a question about the first oil change since I need to break the bike in. The manual recommends 15w50 or 10w40 full synthetic, I live in a colder climate. I checked on Yamaha’s website and it only shows 15w50 for the oil change kit for the FZ-10. Should I just use that or get some motul 7100 10w40 full synthetic ?

That really is personal choice, either is fine. Mine is on Motul alien blood (300V) 10w40 and barely uses any, maybe 1/4L every 1000 miles depending on the riding, if you go for the 10w40 and it burns more than you are happy with then go to the thicker 15w50. But the book does specify fully synthetic so be sure to use that.

I’m in Ontario, Canada so I’ll have to buy it at a local Yamaha dealer because that site doesn’t ship Yamalube to Canada. |
