Nope. I’m saying operating a component outside of its scope has unintended consequences. Just like your last post about loud noises coming from the engine when your chain was mis aligned.
If I questioned the switch, I’d remove it, wire a bypass and go for a ride to duplicate the no start concern. Maybe your switch is on its way out or your vent lines are kinked creating vapor lock.
Food for thought.

I haven't looked at the side stand switch since I put my QS on last year but my memory was there was no real opportunity for adjustment, it's attached hard to the side stand support. I'd put the bike on a center stand (or have a friend hold the bike upright) and then move the stand up and down and observe if the plunger switch is freely moving, it may be stuck and when the side stand is put down it doesn't pop out like it is supposed to. These things are pretty foolproof, they either work or they don't. If you haven't already done so make sure all the connections are secure, something may have been knocked loose and is giving you an intermittent fault. And squirt a little WD-40 in to remove any moisture that may have gotten into the switch. I've never had a problem with any side stand switch, they have always worked as intended.

I was out for a long ride today and I shut the engine off using the sidestand switch (which I never do in practice), the cut off occurs when the sidestand is about 2/3 of the way down. Just a data point.

Just a data point. Yeh thanks, one of the other guys on previous page said same thing. That's how mine was until it started playing up. Cut-off on mine now occurs only when fully extended, right at the very end...and sometimes fails when it's a stinking hot day. Yamahas waiting on part b4 I head out to whoop whoop again...
