I just put a gytr quick shifter on my 10 last night, and followed the directions completely. I turned the bike on and activated the QS function, and then went to test the shift linkage. The gear shifting including neutral felt good up to 4th gear, but I was unable to click up higher. It was almost like it only moved up a half shift, similar to neutral, but spongy and wouldn’t click in. When I did this the dash also disayed a “(—)” instead of “(5)”.
Is this similar to the abs light that only goes off once you get above speed, basically not allowing a shift into 5th or 6th unless you’re moving quick enough? It’s -7 here with snow on the ground so unfortunately I can’t take it out and test it. Please help me out gents, I’m stumped on this.

Sounds strange. Is the shift shaft tight at the top? Was the bike warmed up?

Yes the linkage is tight, and each shift from 1-4 was crisp. No the bike wasn’t running, only had the ignition on so I could see the “QS” light on and to verify the gear indicator on the dash.

Pardon me if I misunderstood you but you haven't actually tested it with the bike running?
That's probably your issue right there. I couldn't imagine being able to shift my bike into 5th or 6th gear without it running.

I also just installed a GYTR quick shifter and am having problems. It reads “QS” on the display but it won’t let me shift without pulling the clutch. Any idea what the problem could be or how to fix it ?

Dont let off the throttle, it only works with the throttle open.

And the rpm's have to be above 2,000 and you have to be accelerating over 20 kmh (12 mph). Just roll on the throttle, keep it open and shift up. Don't touch the clutch lever. If you have the QS light on you should be good to go.
