I have been lurking on this forum for a few months trying to decide what to replace my BMW S1000R with. Nothing against that bike, just time for something new. The FZ//MT 10 is a neat bike, and the best bang for the buck. I have to admit it looks a little too “Transformer” to me.
Yesterday I was heading home through Alvin Texas on my Red Panigale and for a couple of miles was essentially next to a black FZ. I must say the bike looks a lot better to me in the wild. Just wanted to acknowledge the exchange and compliment his bike. He had a few nice mods on it - mainly a short black exhaust, but I did not see the brand. BTW, at one light we both gave each other the thumbs up.
I have decided on a different bike though. I have a KTM Superduke GT bought that should be here any day. A $5,000 discount made that bike a great deal. But I still like and respect Yamaha’s and wish y’all happy riding. Maybe I’ll catch him again and be able to stop and talk.

Good luck with the new purchase! Can't go wrong with a 5k discount!

I personally would have liked to have better access to a KTM and or an Aprilla dealer but they are few and far between where I live. I decided on Yamaha based on reliability rating and dealer access in our area which is important to me. Either way both great bikes!

Reliability is the reason I will likely gets back to Yamaha’s at some point. My other two bikes are a BMW 1600 GT and the 1199 Panigale. I’m a couple of years from retirement, and while I have done a pretty good job of financial planning, I think my threshold of pain may be tested owning European bikes out of warranty! I’ve had three Yamaha’s and they have been great bikes. Unfortunately the Japanese don’t seem to want to offer bikes with premium features.

They're selling at similar discounts here in the Bay Area, which makes them quite a reasonable value, so I took one for an extended test ride to decide between it and the FZ-10. As expected, it's a fantastic motorcycle to ride! Ultimately, though, some of the same non-performance-related fit and finish issues that irritate me on my 950SM irritated me on the SD GT, so I decided on the FZ-10.

I'm glad to hear you like riding it. We are blessed to have some great bikes to choose from.

My local ktm dealer is my yamaha dealer. I had ridden both before buying and i really liked the fz10’s engine character better and my friend owns the dealership and gave me an honest assesment of how much on what bikes they have to fix. When that was factored in it was a nobrainer.
