Hey guys and gals,
I have been wondering about the tool kit that i was given by my dealer and the included tools. I would like to see if i am missing some tools, all i have are two long spanner wrench looking things and a allen wrench.
I feel that there should be more in the pouch considering the my last bikes tool kit literally had everything i would need to strip the bike down to the frame. I will post pictures of what i got later this evening for visual comparisons of what you have. Also where do you keep your kit, there just seems to be no room for it under the seat.

Mine had the same. And the damn thing is too big to fit under the seat.
I heard there's supposed to be a strap under the seat that allows you to secure it against the seat??? Mine didn't come with that.

Mine didn't come with that. Mine came with a strap, which is where the dealer put the owners manual. the owners manual says there should be a kit at the front of the seat, but there wasn't one for my bike and there is no way there's enough space to fit a kit there. as far as the kit itself is concerned, mine has what yours has (which was a surprise because my sv650 and r6 both had the same types of extensive kits that others have had) and it won't fit where the strap is or where the owner's manual says it should go. Obviously gonna build and carry my own kit in my bag/backpack for longer trips.

I got nothing with mine, I think there's an allen wrench attached to the seat.

I didn’t get any tools with mine either. I went back to the dealer to ask for the kit(s) and the dude was just gonna take it off one of the other FZ-10s on the showfloor. I said, "no thanks — I don’t want to pass my problem on to the next poor guy." So, they supposedly ordered a tool kit for me...over a month ago. I’ve talked to them several times since then and nobody knows anything. Go figure. So, whatever. All I needed/wanted was the spanner wrench, anyway, to adjust the rear shock. I’ll just buy my own wrench.

My dealer took out the tool kit and manual and didnt give it to me when i picked up the bike. I had to go back and ask for it. Otherwise i would not have it.

Both of mine did not come with a tool kit, but one did come with a shock ring adjustment spanner wrench.

thx for the reply guys...nice to know that i wasnt missing anything but i am curious as to why Yamaha would put so little in a road side tool kit for this bike compared to others. I am sure it was some marketing guy that has never been on a bike and have something break that convinced them to put only a few tools so we would have to come back to the dealership.

The reason I went to this forum was similar... Mine came with an under-the-seat tool kit that includes a pair of identical stamped-steel shock-adjusting spanners, a double open-end wrench (10mm and 12mm), a 4mm hex key for fork adjustment, a reversible (Phillips and flat) screwdriver and handle, and what appears to be a spare battery tie-down strap. All in a 12+ inch long pouch, the front of which fits nicely (lengthwise) tucked under the rear of the fuel tank and the rest of which lays over the battery, etc. as shown in the attached. What I did NOT get was, the "additional tool kit" that, according to page 8-2 of my owner's manual, "was handed out separately at the time of vehicle purchase." It wasn't. And won't be since, according to my dealer, the additional tool kit does not exist. So, I'll be writing a short letter to Yamaha explaining that, based on other posts here, (a) add a description of what the under-seat tool kit should include and (b) if there is no "additional" tool kit, then the note on page 8-2 should be corrected. Has ANYONE been given the additional tool kit described on page 8-2?

Nope. Got nuthin’. I asked the dealer for them a month ago and was told they’d have to order both kits for me. I followed up, and nobody knew anything. Then I was told that the tool kit(s) don’t come with a spanner wrench for adjusting the rear suspension, anyway, so I wasn’t missing anything. Haha. I just said, “ok” and left. Not gonna spend anymore time on that.
I guess the dealers just throw all the tool kits away, or something?

They were in that bag, while the other tools were affixed to the seat pan.

Mine came with the tools secured under the stock seat. I also received an additional tool kit handed out by the dealer.

You'd be much better off buying a real tool kit. The only useful tools included are the 2 spanners to adjust the rear spring (preload), which come in a separate bag, along with rubber strap for the compartment under the seat (I used it to secure a flat repair kit). Other than that, the bike only comes with a crappy screwdriver (good for nothing), and a couple of equally useless small allen wrenches, all located under the seat. You should be able to find those dirt cheap from a motorcycle junk yard, if you really want them. And they should be cheap from Yamaha too. Look for them on a parts website like Babbitt's online. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Underneath the seat there are spots to put the screwdriver and Allen wrench. Not in the pouch, but just the tools themselves
