www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sw-motech-blaze-saddle-bag-systemI would really love a set of these or the yamaha branded ones that came from the factory. However I read awhile ago that the stock exhaust was burning holes into the bags. Any input from anyone who has them? I'm tempted to get them anyhow, and do a decat and different exhaust hopefully putting the heat somewhere else.

I have the SW-MOTECH Blaze Saddle Bags and a stock exhaust. The bag is above the direct flow of the exhaust. I've ridden over a 1,000 miles with them mounted and there is no damage from the exhaust heat. I really like these bags as they are extremely handy and match the lines of the bike well. I leave them mounted all of the time now.

I just ordered a set of them, got them and the rear rack on a cyber Monday sale, for the light touring I do or long day rides they should be fine, I have a Givi tank lock mount and bag that I will look into trying to mount to the rack instead of buying the SW-Motech bag and mounting ring, but if it won't work, I may end with the SW-Motech setup which looks well integrated on the rack.

Where's the best place to buy these bags? RevZilla wants $452, and it seems like I saw them somewhere else (in Europe?) For less, even with shipping.

I have a set in transit right now. Got them off eBay from a place in France. I had a coupon and all in with shipping it was $338.

I was told last year by the Yamaha dealer that they had pulled the bags because of the reason you mentioned with the exhaust. Likely have redisigned them by now, but in the interim I purchased a set SHAD hard bags. Kind of big, but you can fit a ton of stuff in them. Even a full face helmet no problem. Very well made too and easily detachable when you don't want them on.

Either being overly cautious, or they have been redesigned, because the is plenty of room between pipe and bags. At least with the stock can.

So, I pulled the trigger and bought a set - initial reaction was positive; seems like a pretty well built product, packaging was nice, instructions were clear...
And then I noticed that the right side bag sits nice and straight on the bike, but the left one is at an angle. Seems like something is off in their cnc pipe bending process.
I thought maybe I had a defective left bracket, so I reached out to RevZilla and they sent me a new set of brackets. Same issue, so I have to assume it's a manufacturing issue.
Anyone else experience this?

No issues here. Aftermarket angles up more than stock. Are you using a tail tidy? If yes, how does the saddlebags fit with it? I have read that using tail tidy might interfere with the saddlebags.

I have the genuine yamaha tail tidy (istalled without the long arm), and after chopping an inch off the ends of the blaze mounting rods, the bags fit. They do brush a little bit against the indicators, but not enough to bother me. If you have a tailtidy with the plate and indicators level or behind the rear indicators, they wont fit.
