Thinking about upgrading from my gorgeous FZ-07 to the FZ-10, but I've gotta be totally honest...I'm kinda intimidated going from a 700 to a 1000. I've owned a 900 (actually a 885) Triumph but that bike was a 1998 steel beast and much heavier. Other than that, I've never ridden anything that is actually a 1000cc.
Pros to switching Wife will be more comfortable as passenger seating is much more substantial Riding position is more comfortable Bigger fuel tank Bike is just flat out incredible and frankly an upgrade from the FZ07
Cons Might kill myself riding like a jagoff Much more expensive as I am inevitably going to do same type of upgrades to a new bike as I did my FZ07 Fuel economy 30 mpg about 1/2 of the FZ07 mid to high 50's

You need to test ride one and see what you think. I am going to ride one on Friday. Hopefully it will not be a very expensive test ride

The FZ-10 is not an uncontrollable fast bike. Just the opposite, its comfortable to ride slow and fast. Yes, if ya twist the throttle all the way you will lift the front wheel off the ground.
But its a very sensible bike, did I say comfortable? Also very well outfitted. Already has great lights, great seat, great exhaust for stock, has cruise control standard, and is the best naked bike I have ridden.
You can ride around doing the speed limit all day, easy peasy. And yes, you can haul ass.
Go test ride one. You'll see what I mean really quick, this is a great all around bike one of the most perfect bikes I have ridden.

I agree, It's easy to ride at the speed limit, comfortable, it seems to be the hole package that's why i'm getting on. It is supposed to be at the shop today in the crate so not long now. Did I say they haul ass as well.

Very smooth, linear power band and the handling is super confidence inspiring. Start off in Standard mode, it's very controllable. I use standard mode early morning leaving for work every day as my street would be better suited to a dual sport or 4x4: steep hill, single lane, switchbacks, massive pot holes, dirt, gravel and it's pitch black. You also have a very short wheelbase which makes low speed handling easy as well as Traction Control and ABS to keep you out of trouble. Get the FZ-10...you won't regret it.

The -10 is indeed and amazing ride and very comfortable for the rider, but for the passenger it has to be one of the worst ride ever. Very little space back there, and the rear pegs are in the worst position ever,i had to remove them because my heels would always hit them. To me it's definitely a solo ride.

I agree with you, I took a friend on the back tonight an she was saying how high they were compared to my other bike. I am going to keep them on but also the back seat is small. Kinda like the r1

Yes, I got my MT-10 today, very easy to ride and about 80kg lighter than the Fatbob. I guess it really does Transform from a easy rider to a weapon at around that 7 to 8 thousand rpm. B mode was a bit snitchy for the hills or traffic, better suited for higher speeds. It a great all-rounder except for the rear seat. Of to a Championship Day Ride next week. I was feely nervous about this bike a first even though the Fatbob was ridden hard, after a the tyre's where scrubbed in it was so compliant through the tight corners at our local mountain pass. Off and on camber, no problems, the overall package is well sorted. I can see how a Sportsbike rider might say the brakes are a bit soft, for me coming off American muscle bike the brakes where fine.

I went to the Yamaha Demo Day today and unfortunately they only had one FZ-10 and it was very popular. I guess I will have to wait to test ride one. I think I may have dodged a bullet as I still do not know what I am missing. The XSR909 and FZ-09 test rides were fun, but did not make me want to trade in my FZ-07.

Damn that all black looks good. I think this bike looks fantastic in every color.

I would love to see a red one. I think its just 2 colors atm? I know, I just wish one of those colors was red Maybe for 2018. A red FZ-10 would be very hard for me to resist.

Well, I went to the local Yamaha dealership to check it out and they didn't have a single one in stock. I looked at the FZ-1 and the FJ-09 but neither of them were worth selling my FZ-07 for. I will wait until the Demo Day truck shows up and take that baby for a spin. Thank all of you guys for the input especially as to the "controllability" of the bike. I think the only thing I'll keep off of my FZ-07 is the IXIL L3XB slip on exhaust. If it sounds that good on my 07, I can't imagine what it'll sound like on the FZ-10.

With the drive modes and traction control you can dial it in to your skill set and preferences. Yeah the gas mileage is a little bit lame but trust me on this, every time you twist the throttle your face will smile. It's involuntary. 😁
