I've got the orignal R1 heat shield fitted.
Fitting this isn't without it's issues though.
Original rear sets catch so the heat shield will need a small trim. I have Bonamici's so not an issue.
Also the exhaust will be more upswept so you'll need to do some work around the exhaust hanger unless you run a stubby.

Interesting topic guys I’m about to do the same , I bought a 2015 R1 cat . Think of keep this one as it is and gut the original MT10 cat box . Did you guys cut open the box, gut the cat and weld it al back together ? Or just smash out the cat and shake out all the pieces of smashed cat ? I do not like the thought of tiny pieces of cat floating around in my exhaust box .... if they end up somehow in the engine it is disaster ... rgds No didn't cut it open , just drilled and knocked the actual cats out then smoothed the bore as good as i could , the loose cat material comes out easy from the chamber

Hello everybody. I have MT10 with last exhaust from R1. Is little louder and nice. I will try soon with R1 cat but I think is quieter than from MT10. In R1 exup valve is very tight in pipe, on MT10 is about 5mm gap around. Yes, on R1 is second small pipe but it comes from quieter chamber. What you think?

According MRCDHARWOOD its louder then standard FZ /MT10 , 2015 R1 CAt probably also has less strict DB rules , part from this it is developed in an engine set up of an R1 supposed to deliver 200 BHP ......

Just your off the shelf 4D matte carbon vinyl from Amazon.
Used it also on my original heat shield for 2½ years so can say there's no issues long term.
