I'm 6'2" and 245ish. I had the front wheel in the air within 15 minutes of buying my 2017 FZ-10. It was kind of accidental. I was playing with the throttle modes. I got used to B mode, went back to STD, and got liberal with the twist, and it stood up with zero effort. It was in 1st and at about 7000 revs. I whacked it to feel it come up on the cam and it jumped up to a 10 o'clock wheelie instantly with my weight forward. You could sit on the front fender at 250lbs and it would still jump up in 1st. It will jump up in 2nd too. It'll jump up in 3rd, but you have to be more intentional. It will clutch up in 4th easily, it will clutch up in 5th with a bit more intention, and it will clutch up in 6th, but takes some effort, and a willingness to wheelie at triple digits.

I’m 6’5” 240 and it won’t stay on the ground to the point of being annoying.... and I’m in the break in period! I have 400ks on the clock, have not hit redline but EVERYTIME I hit the throttle, the front lifts up. 1st, 2nd for sure... 3rd occasionally. So you would think this is cool but as mentioned, borderline annoying, not to mention if an officer happens to see this happening then it’s a slew of fines and suspensions. I will continue the break in and monitor how I feel before I do anything drastic like a sprocket change etc. I still have my 03 FJR1300 which would power wheelie in first only . I have never clutched a wheelie in my life. What IS nice is the 18’s have a stock quick shifter so when under power I just upshift while the front is lifting and it settles it down slightly. More seat time will have it perfected but the hype is real regarding this thing being a wheelie beast. I have a feeling that as I get into the higher rpm ranges, it will either be worse or crazy to the point of concern. FJR is smooth manageable power....this..... is..... not...... lol Practice and seat time is key..... I hope. Cheers

aavmann Get the suspension set for your weight and consider a chain/sprocket swap that lengthens the wheelbase.

Good advice... yes.... suspension? For sure has to be properly done. As far as sproket changes... I’ll take it step by step. I doubt the rear spring is rated to handle 240lbs anyway. I just took the ole FJR for a spin. I have had it for 16 years now and had nothing done to the suspension in that time frame and well.... it feels great. I guess the power delivery of the MT10 demands everything else to be perfectly in check. I understand and will abide accordingly. Thanks again

I'll agree the suspension setup is crucial on these bikes. Mine came set up for a heavy person. I accelerate hard and have very few dank wheelies. My brother's was setup for a lighter person and sat lower than mine and couldn't keep the front wheel down.
I would setup the suspension properly and install a G2 throttle Tamer, you'll have total control and all the smoothness your FJR has.

I know this is an old thread so I hope you've resolved your issue by now, but I have zero trouble getting the wheel up and I'm heavier than you and haven't messed with my suspension. Sounds to me like there's something wrong with it.

Sounds to me like there's something wrong with it. If you are referring to my post there is nothing wrong! I can lift at will with just the throttle. But I can keep it planted also. Improper suspension can and will cause excessive lift.

Wheelies for days through 3rd for me... It even comes up in 5th if I hit a ripple in the road. Have you got an ecu flash for it? If so, where'd you get it done?

What’s the elevation where you live or where you ride? Use a density altitude calculator to figure out if you are losing power due to elevation, air temperature, humidity or a combination thereof.
I’m in Colorado and my bike still lifts the wheel in first gear but not as easy as others here have described.
