Hey everyone, My names Matt; my fiancé and I just traded in our 2015 harley fatbob for our new 2017 Fz10. I've been ridin since I was 20 when I bought my 2010 Harley Iron 883 new from the dealer. I loved that bike and then after doing more two up riding traded her in for the fat bob which was less than exciting to ride and I couldn't be happier with the new bike. Now I have experience with bikes but none with Yamaha or anything other than harley ... so things like tank pads, sliders, radiator covers are all new to me. Can you all please just leave some input on some must have mods and recommendations from where to buy from ? Thank you in advance ... 2 days and 200 miles with the angel of death lol

hey, saw ur other thread, welcome. im in long island, NY. i go to jersey for track days at thunderbolt, and ride there once in a while. we should set up a ride sometime.
anyways, i ride 2up a lot too, one of the reasons i traded my supersport for this amazing bike.
for the advice..
1- get a more comfortable seat, stock one is shit. i got the yamaha comfort seat. wayy better then stock for both rider and passenger but wouldnt say its total comfort. would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. had to buy is as there is no other options besides the seat concepts which doesnt look comfortable for the passenger.
2 - get grips so you are not sliding forward all the time. i got stompgrip clear ones from bellisimoto they work good and look good except for that there is one part where my knee touches the bike and there is no grip there. might have to buy another extra piece and put it on there. (its on that little black rectangular piece, thats under the tank). another option which comes with an extra piece that might solve that issue is the tech spec ones. they work great too, had them on my last bike. (note - these are bike specific. they also sell general sheets that you can cut)
3 - if you are looking for a backrest, there is a company that makes custom ones . personally, i havent bought it yet but i am in the process of talking to them to make me one with grab handles and a rack in the back. for long rides.
4 - ive heard of people extending their passenger pegs by about an inch or so to make it more comfortable for the passenger... i havent done it cause my girlfriend hasnt complained about it. it happens with taller passengers i guess.
other mods in general - exhaust, block off plates, ftecu sidetuner + tune from bauce racing (located in NJ), frame sliders.. i got the kit with front axle sliders and stuff for a good price from ebay. from a company called OES (already saved my bike by the way. lol. smh), fender elimnator, some kind of windscreen, levers, integrated tail light, ram mount for phone... list goes on and on. lol
* maybe the most important piece of advice (that you might not want to hear).. u should think about getting some gear for u n her. road rash fucking sucks and skin doesnt come back looking the same. haha
also, i got the genuine yamaha windscreen for the fz10 that i can sell to you cause i dont use it. (reason - pushes more air to helmet causing a little more windnoise, and i liked the naked look a little more, even though it doesnt look bad at all with the screen)
goodluck, ride safe.

I suggest that you spend some time reading through the 'What I did to my bike today' section of this forum. There you will see the various pads, spools, covers and any other farkle you could possibly think of. Lots of performance upgrades too. Then follow the forum's link to Revzilla.com and enter your fz10 into the My Rides entry to see everything they sell for your bike. They have and incredible selection of men's and women's riding gear as well.
Congratulations!! Enjoy your new ride!

Get some radiator and oil cooler protection, they are expensive units to replace... i few of us here have the Evotech covers, they do a great job,not very expensive and i think they make the bike look meaner.

Welcome to the world of sports bikes which you probably already know are a lot different than the cruiser world. There are lots of things you can do, cosmetic, comfort, performance, it all depends on what you are looking for.
First thing is get good personal gear for protection, AGATT (all gear all the time). It's cheap insurance for your own personal safety.
Second, get frame sliders which attach to the upper engine mount, they are cheap and will protect the bike in the event of a slow speed crash, or a tipover at rest. Next, protection for the radiator and oil cooler are a must. Also spools for the swingarm and a Pitbull type stand will make maintenance very much easier. Then you can look at things like a windscreen or different seat, it depends on how the stock ones fit you. Once you get comfortable with the machine you can go further with performance mods although the stock performance is world class compared to bikes of just a few years ago, the FZ-10's capabilities are greater than the skills of 99% of the people who own them. I've been riding for over 40 years and this thing has capabilities way beyond my skill level and I learn new things everytime I take it out, it is a constant teacher of speed and physics of motion. RESPECT the potential of this machine!
Have fun, and ride safe.

For the fender eliminator, i really like the Vagabond motorsport unit. I believe it is the only one the keeps the licence plate light and the cover for the key hole under the seat. I dont have their fender eliminator on my bike, but a do have their luggage rack which is rock solid and fits perfectly, judging by the solidity of that rack,i wouldnt be afraid to recommend any of their products.

If my bike could travel at the speed of light, would my headlights work?

Graves fender eliminator also addresses the key hole under the seat. Perfect fit.

Yoshimura FE also retains the fliplock key cover. It includes a new very good looking LED license plate light to replace the stock one. Everything fits perfectly.
