I just signed up after visiting several times due to my interest in the FZ10, I rode one at a Yamaha demo day this past spring, I really liked the fit of the bike and all it offers in terms of performance and comfort. I live in the north central part of WV, and have been riding for 40yrs. I like sportbike performance but I'm 57 soon to be 58, and want a more comfortable bike, the FZ strikes a nice balance between the 09 Street Triple R and 2012 Tiger800 that I currently own as far as seating position goes, and has performance that tops my 11 Daytona 675SE that has been tuned. Once I sell or trade two of these bikes, I will likely purchase an FZ10, and I'm sure it will be like owning the 675 Triumphs, this bike seems like a good one to mod with the extra performance that lurks in it with a tune and the available upgrades, even stock it seems like a good bike.

Welcome.
I traded my FZ-10 for a Tiger XCX. I'm already in the process of selling the XCX. I'm also ten years older than you and made the last switch for comfort. It all depends on which type of comfort you're looking for. I wanted to smooth out rough highways in my area. The XCX was way overkill and is too tall and top heavy for my old carcass to deal with. The FZ-10 is an upright, naked, street rider friendly R1 for the most part. Relatively stiff suspension and chassis. If you're under 200 lbs, the stock suspension can be useable with some adjusting. The rough roads are the only reason I gave it up. Other than the stiffness for me, it was fantastic and I miss it daily. My compromise will most likely be a BMW F 700 GS. It's 8" shorter in height than the XCX with a 19" front wheel and fuel under the seat. The biggest trade off will be 75 hp vs 160 hp on the FZ-10. That will be really tough to adapt to.
I think you're totally correct about the -10 splitting the difference of your two bikes. The biggest thing you'll give up is going off road. Also, coming from your smooth triples, you'll love the smooth feel and throaty growl of the crossplane 4. The engine is truly outstanding.
Good luck with your decision.

mtneer welcome to the forum! I bought my FZ-10 from Romney Cycles in Romney, WV. Their prices are great and the price on their site is the price you pay, plus taxes. No additional assembly/prep, freight, etc etc fees. Where do you usually ride? I'm in Haymarket, VA and Wardensville is just an hour and a half from me. I start there and like riding around Moorefield, Thomas, Elkins, and Franklin areas pretty often.

I've been dealing with Romney Cycle for over 30 yrs, one of my best friends was the lead mechanic there over 20yrs, the shop changed owners in 1987, the current owner I've known since he was drag racing with his dad, he has held fast to the original owners concept on pricing, my friend who was a mechanic still works there part time in sales. I ride in that area sometimes and other times I go west from my home in Fairmont and ride toward Ohio and sometimes into SE OH, from where I live I can do a couple of good loops in either direction, I can be on Rt50 in about 20 minutes from where I live. There are many good roads close by me, so a sporty bike is fun to own.

Hello, also a new guy in WV here too. I'm around Harpers Ferry. Just picked up a '17 fz10, life changer for me...what a bike! Coming from an 07 Superduke, last year took my RC51 off street to track only duty. Picked up my FZ from coleman, happened to find a slightly used one.

I just sold my Street Triple R and will likely trade my Daytona 675SE as long as the insurance quote is close to what my agent quoted my earlier in the summer, I should be the owner of a Grey FZ10 by the middle of next week if everything falls into place. If someone on here is interested in a 2011 Daytona 675SE with a full Akrapovic exhaust, full GB racing protection package, Saddleman seat, Cox radiator guard, Ohlins TTX36 shock sprung for a 200lb rider, I will make you a deal 10150 miles, bike made 118.47HP and 51.56ft/lbs of torque on JD Hord dyno when he tuned it.
