I rarely use the horn anymore and like car alarms people just get used to the noise as nothing out of the ordinary. Decat the bike, clutch in, and whack the throttle. I generally get someone's attention right away.

I have used the Akra system with great results a few times. I know for a fact people have looked before pulling out cause they can hear me coming. LOL

Denali horns and similar are great, but require enough space to mount them. The FZ and MT -10s. Are pretty tight. If you put them in place of the old horn, the front fender will hit and end up damaged. Also when that happens you can lose control and crash. I've used Denali horns on other bikes, but opted out on the -10.

Never put it on. The Tiger is being replaced shortly with a BMW F 700 GS. The biggest transition from sport bikes to ADV for me is the height. At 56" the Tiger is simply to big for me like a Super Tenere would be. The BMW 700 is under 48" and the fuel is under the seat. Being an ADV, it's still smooth over bumps. I'd prefer the Triumph triple engine, but not the upper height and weight, especially with a full tank. A bigger dude like you would have no problem with the Tiger. The BMW will be getting the air horn for sure. I was test riding one on the freeway at 70 mph and couldn't even hear the standard horn.
I'll still be verifying clearance under the triple tree though. Max fork travel measured from the fender up is the best way to check. Even though there's a lot of room above the fender, 7" of travel will use up a lot of that over bumpy roads. ADV bikes have lots of spaces available for extra goodies.

The planned purchase: On a mini-vacation in Door County. This is our private balcony view.
