Noticed this while taping up my lights, both projector lenses are cracking, more so on the left than right. The cracks appear to be on the inside, because I cant feel the cracks with a finger nail. I'll be taking it into the dealership for a warranty claim, but has anyone else encountered this yet?
I believe it's glass. The best thing to do is get it into the dealer and report it to Yamaha. I wonder if our friends across the pond are noticing it as the bike were released earlier. It might be a supplier issue.
Yamaha is covering the repair. The part is on order and surgery is scheduled for next Saturday. Our bikes are so new there isn't even a flat rate labor time for the head light replacement.
Well, that is good news. I check mine after each ride, so far no cracks. Haven't heard of this as a general issue, it must be a bad batch of lenses from the supplier. I wonder what the policy will be after the 1 year warranty period, having to pay $500 + labor would be tough to swallow. Is the function of the lights compromised at all with the cracks or is it just a cosmetic issue? I don't ride at night so as long as the light is working it wouldn't impact my ride. Of course it might compromise the longevity of the system long term.
