Noticed this while taping up my lights, both projector lenses are cracking, more so on the left than right. The cracks appear to be on the inside, because I cant feel the cracks with a finger nail. I'll be taking it into the dealership for a warranty claim, but has anyone else encountered this yet?

Nope, 7500 miles so far. I can see where the edge of the contoured lens meets the surrounding material.
Cheers,

Both lenses doing the same thing, did some internet detective work and appears the 2015 R1 had similar issues.

I'll keep an eye out on mine, no issues so far. Maybe a bad batch of lenses. What was your build date?

I thought a rock must have kicked up and chipped mine. I found my left lens was cracked after my second hand wash. You guys know if this a warrant-able item?

How many miles/headlight run time would you guys with the cracks say you have? I don't have any crack yet but will be keeping a close eye on it.

Update - the entire headlight assembly must be replaced. It costs $600 plus labor. Yamaha does not sell the glass or each side separately.
My dealer took pictures and submitted a warranty claim. We will see....

Man that sucks. Are they plastic or glass? I believe it's glass. The best thing to do is get it into the dealer and report it to Yamaha. I wonder if our friends across the pond are noticing it as the bike were released earlier. It might be a supplier issue.

Just curious how many of you guys run with high beams during the day? I have cracks too and was thinking that maybe could cause this problem since I run high beams when I ride during daylight hours.

All the time, but my low beam is the one thats cracked..... I live in FL where everyone and thing is out to kill you.... dodged a gator yesterday. UPDATE******* Yamaha is covering the repair. The part is on order and surgery is scheduled for next Saturday. Our bikes are so new there isn't even a flat rate labor time for the head light replacement.

UPDATE******* Yamaha is covering the repair. The part is on order and surgery is scheduled for next Saturday. Our bikes are so new there isn't even a flat rate labor time for the head light replacement. Well, that is good news. I check mine after each ride, so far no cracks. Haven't heard of this as a general issue, it must be a bad batch of lenses from the supplier. I wonder what the policy will be after the 1 year warranty period, having to pay $500 + labor would be tough to swallow. Is the function of the lights compromised at all with the cracks or is it just a cosmetic issue? I don't ride at night so as long as the light is working it wouldn't impact my ride. Of course it might compromise the longevity of the system long term.
