Hey guys, have a question.
I have an exhaust and plan to de-cat. Plan to flash. My question however, is what is the best option for someone that plans to change elevation a lot. I'm currently in Milwaukee, home base is between VA and CO so Pikes Peak is an option including riding through the rockies and the blue ridges. 2Wheel's flash calls for removing the 02 sensors. Is Woolich racing or FTecu my best option with the active tune? I originally planned on going for the reflash from 2Wheel simply for ease of plug and play.
Thanks,

I think your best bet would be to email/call Nels at 2 Wheel Dynoworks and ask what your option is. 2 Wheel Dynoworks has amazing customer service and the guys there will answer any and every question that you have. Maybe they have a flash that doesn't disable to O2 sensors so it can adjust for elevation changes. Happy tuning!

Contact our flash sponsor Nels at 2 Wheel Dino works and he will work with you to get a map for your set up. See the supporting vendor section for contact info and website.

Nels can configure it any way you need, o-2 sensors are more of an emmisions function.

I understand people telling him to call a vendor, but could we also agree that having the vendor answer here, or at the very least, having the OP come back and post what was said would be beneficial to other members who maybe have the same questions. It also keeps the vendor from having to answer the same question over and over. Just a thought.

Chances are they won't catch it quickly as they monitor their specific sub forums more often. The fasted way to get a question answered from a vendor, past reading the questions already answered in their sub forums, are to: 1. Call vendor 2. Post question in their specific forum 3. PM the vendor 4. Email the vendor

So I did call 2wheel. He said the exhaust 02 sensors are indeed only for emissions. The flash does not affect sensors that control for elevation changes. So in short, this flash manages elevation changes just fine.
Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Beast for coming back and posting Nel's response. I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on some mod's for the FZ and this was a concern for me. I've read a couple other threads where this wasn't addressed correctly or maybe thoroughly is a better term.

It also keeps the vendor from having to answer the same question over and over. Just a thought. Problem is , the vendor 2wheeldynoworks is usually busy flashing bikes and ecu's from 7 am thru 9 pm at night . Then, they go home with their families. And on weekends they are usually at racetracks supporting their race customers and flashing bikes at the track too. So, they dont exactly have alot of time to be on the forum. They do their best, but I don't expect them to be here very often. They do answer their phones and return calls promptly though. They are the best. I only invite the best to be vendors on our forums and Nels is the best Iv'e ever worked with. Tons of riders, racers and stunters nationwide agree. He and flashtunes invented the flash for the USA FZ-10 and we supplied the test bike for flashtunes testing and and they used our member's testbike and Nels assistance and created the baseline tune for the FZ-10 that ALL tuners in the USA are using to flash bikes with. So yeah, call Nels. (425) 269-5332 And when you buy his custom tune, any changes you make to your bike later (exhaust) 0-2 sensor) he will update your tune accordingly for free!

I got the first stock exhaust flash from Nels last September. It was awesome (engine way smoother and the power increase was hugely noticeable) except engine braking was a bit high and the cruise control didn't work. Nels said there was a fix for the cruise control coming so I didn't worry . Also Nick from Stoltec recently worked with Nels to address the engine braking so I was looking forward to getting the flash updated. Fast forward to last Monday May 22; I did a track day at the Ridge in Shelton WA. Nels was there. He reflashed the ECU in no time at all. The results were awesome and noticeable. I did the first half of the track day with the first Sept 2016 tune because I wanted some seat time and didn't want to deal with anything else. At lunch I found Nels and gave him my ECU ( he also gave me an CAT elim update too) and then was was ready for the second half of the day. Results: no more excessive engine braking when closing the throttle- Yes!!...also he bike wheelied out of a slow second gear hairpin easier than before. And the cruise control functions as it should. I would say the mapping is perfect:off-on throttle response is buttery smooth...and the 2wheeldynworks customer service is as good as it gets...

Does the cruise control stop working after any flash or only 2wheeldyno?

My bike performs functionally like it does stock and unflashed, same goes for all my customers bikes who i have flashed. Same applies for the diagnostic port, it should not stop working after the bike is flashed

Not to discredit any other tuners out there, but I used Anthony from Bauce Racing in NJ for my R6. Flash was great. Since he is local to me, if I decide to throw on some parts that require a tune I will be visiting him. Just figured i'd throw another option out for people.

You guys are free to talk about any mechanic or tuner that you want to. As long as these discussions occur outside of a paid supporting vendors board/section.
In this case, I'm moving this thread out of the "tech tips" section only because it's not a tech tip.
