Ok, this is the seriously the easiest install every. I posted the install pics from the directions as it SO EASY. What I decided to do was have a clean factory looking quick release tank bag. I had a Nelson Riggs bag so I modified it for a MoTech quick disconnect from the tank bag mount. 1. Measure the bag and cut a simple cardboard template. 2. Cut wood bottom and check fitment. 3. Take wood bottom and black felt and use spray adhesive to cover wood bottom. 4. Trim excess felt. 5. Add industrial Velcro and mount to bag bottom. 6. Use MoTech supplied base template. drill mounting holes and mount base. The final result is a quick disconnect rear rack bag that looks OEM and is clean with a solid base and NO STRAPS. Mission Accomplished. This rear rack and mount will also work with all MoTech EVO and EVO powered bags.

I'm thinking about getting this rack and putting a rotopax 2 gal gas can on it. Our fuel consumption is hell and I think it would be worth its weight in gold.

The rack is solid and could be used for any type of mount.

I think about getting that rack, but i always wondered about one thing about these type of top cases rack... I am always worried that it can obstruct the visibility of the taillight, how does it do in that regard? Should i worry less and ride more? LOL 0002s

It does not interfere with the ability to see the taillight or turn signals.

Vagabond has a rack too. It looks a bit more square though. The MoTech rack takes a better looking shape, but the square version might hold more stuff. Noticed this expansion option for the SW Motech rack last night - I'll likely pick it up too, as it really increases the usability of the better-looking rack... My decision on soft luggage is still up in the air though - do I do SW's Racepack or do I simply do a good drybag across the rack expansion? (SW also has a few good solutions in this regard...)

That's nice. I like the drybags for these purposes.

Haven't seen this thread before. That rack mount is the best I've seen, and the most OEM-looking indeed. However, a bag there blocks the rear seat anyway, so I prefer to leave mine over the pillion seat myself, but it's a close call, just because I hate straps too. Ha ha. The good thing about the rack bag is no straps AND no spray on the rear seat or our backs when raining. The reason I won't consider it is I hardly ever catch rain because never ride when raining on purpose (only if caught due to bad forecast). In addition, my straps are not visible... BUT if I ride in rain, it'd be a royal mess to clean all the mess, but that's also true with the rack, due to the tail-tidy most of us have. Finally, the idea of carrying extra gas on the rack is not a bad one at all. My bike gave me better mileage than expected at 80+ speeds, but I wasn't aggressive with the throttle otherwise. Range is still a bit too short for comfort in the areas I like to ride. But an awesome bike, so we all put up with that. He he.

The top ring is separate, unless you buy a Motech bag. I personally have this setup with the Motech sport tank bag used as a tail bag and I love it! Makes a great butt stop for my lil girl. And carries more than I need.

It's not that much of a cheaper alternative to what I was going to do when I add in that extra cost, but I do like a set up like this better because it's more adaptable.
