[SOLVED] Rear Sprocket Fit

After carefully checking out the parts schematic on Partzilla.com I noticed that the part number for what Yamaha calls the clutch hub (what the sprocket mounts to) is identical for for the 19 and 22 models. So I ordered the 22 rear sprocket and I'll have it Tuesday.

Curious to know how your like the gearing change. Any negatives or positives based on your experience?

Went out for a two hour ride, the roads in the PNW were a little grotty in areas that did not see the sun, so I rode accordingly. Bike steering, cornering, and handling are unchanged. I can't tell how the extra 5mm in wheelbase affects the bike. As far as speed is concerned I was unable to really open it up to its top speed, but cruising at 70 mph yields about 5200 rpm vs. around 5600-5700 rpm of the standard gearing. Pulling to redline in third would yield just over 100 mph, but with the new sprocket I'm now hitting 110 mph. Acceleration is still bonkers, but cannot determine with certainty if it's slower. Overall I'm happy to have made the change. Once I get the ECU re-flash done the extra power will certainly take advantage of the gearing.

So, the bike got a Scorpion link pipe installed, the AIS system removed, and its ECU re-flashed. Oh Lordy, you definitely feel the extra power despite being geared up. Had it up to 163 mph, and if I were wearing my summer mesh jacket instead of my bulky ADV jacket I probably would have seen a little more. I have the bike scheduled for a dyno tune to really optimize the fueling throughout the rev range, but as it is it's bloody bonkers. 

The bike is louder than stock, but not overly so, and still delivers a throaty sound. I live in a quiet neighborhood so I keep the revs down until I’m on the main road. I think the de-cat is a good way to go. The weight savings are impressive and the power boost you get is great value for about a $600 investment.

Totally agree, the Leo Vince pipe aesthetically has a look only its mother would love. That was the main reason I chose the Scorpion.

I only rode it in its stock form, but geared up. If I recall correctly, the Scorpion link pipe works only with the stock can, or Scorpion can. You can verify that on their website.

As promised, I done a few rides and have a better sense of how the sprocket change has panned out. The handling of the bike to me is unchanged, the big thing to me has been the fuel consumption. I have de-catted my bike and had it dyno tuned by EDR Performance in Beaverton, Oregon. I performed a 330 mile ride yesterday on two lane roads averaging between 60-80 once out of town with the occasional no holds barred grip it and rip it for passing. I reached 142 miles before the fuel gauge started to flash. I rode the bike for a further 25 miles before refueling. The bike accepted 4.2 gallons for an average fuel consumption of 39.7 mpg. So, it's clear to me that gearing the bike up was a good thing.
