Hi everyone, newbie here. I have decided to buy a 2022 MT-10. There are one standard and one SP available at my local dealer. I really love the look of the SP, just not sure if it’s worth the extra money. I don’t have a plan to bring it to track in near future. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

You can find some details in post i posted recently: fz10.org/thread/4491/more-differences-mt-10-2022?page=1&scrollTo=33965Definitely Öhlins Electronic Suspensions SV Gen-2 shocks on both front & rare in SP will have advantage over manual KYB® suspensions in normal model. Front brake Calipers are R1M derived too on SPs. Öhlins SV2 suspensions are electronically adjustable (believe me they are phenomenon, smoother...i get the difference while riding R1M and normal R1 - I am regular rider, not track..). www.ohlins.com/2021/11/2022-yamaha-m-10-sp-first-motorcycle-to-feature-revolutionary-ohlins-suspension-valving-technology/Than looks, different distinguished color scheme (like an special edition)! and finally you will never regret not buying "SP", you can think otherwise later if you go with normal MT 10. (I am not saying normal is bad, but "SP" is "SP") Do share what you decide. With some pictures of your new bike. Best wishes and ride safe!

Thanks for posting that interesting link. I may be an outlier in that I don't especially like the suspension on my 2017 SP, especially the fork which has quite a jarring ride no matter where I set the adjusters. I have other bikes with conventional adjustable forks that ride bumps much much better. I read the latest motorcycle.com review of the new, non-SP and suspension comfort was prasied on the standard version.

The key differences are: ohlins, brake upgrades, chain, seat., black handlebar, paint. I only care about the brake upgrades and a smoother rear shock (I've heard that is the weak spot). So if I can get good brakes with pads and lines and a shock upgrade and comfort seat I'm probably happy. The question then becomes how much did I spend on these aftermarket bits and should I just have gotten the SP? Note: I prefer black colored forks over gold on this bike.

The bike doesn't need brake upgrade and a good/smoother Ohlins (TTX 36 GP) rear shock is 1300$. But you can find other models cheaper and equivalent. In France we have EMC wich is 50% cheaper and as good as ohlins. So, not interesting to upgrade for those reasons IMO. The only interest for me is to save time when you want to change setup.

I could not find an SP, so I had to get what I could find, regular 22 MT10. Still an outstanding bike. I had the first year they came out, FZ10, 2016 or 17, don't remember and it was good from the start. A lot of improvements to the 22 model.

Depends... When you say newbie, you talking to riding or to MTs? Newbie to this site.
Bought the standard version due to no test ride and the $4500 CAD price difference. Had a chance to try a SP in a group ride one week after I bought the standard. To me, the SP is smoother and more stable (in A3 suspension modle). The SP's paint work looks much more premium. So, it answered my own question: the SP is a better value to me. Regret not buying the SP...

Congratulations!!! that black one looks great. I prefer its look for the ethos of the MT10 especially the black forks. I'm not really a fan of gold forks on the bike

May be sacrilege to some, but I don't like the blue wheels and gold forks. Has anyone ever put black wheels on a SP, and/or tried wrapping the forks black? I wish matte raven black could have Ohlins option.

Yea I'm not a fan of the silver swingarm mostly. It would be nice for a version with the black Ohlins forks
