The major thing you'll need is a spring compressor. And a sturdy vise. I have the spring compressor and it was still a 2-person huge PITA job to swap my springs and oil.

I love to wrench but think I’ll leave this one to the shop when needed. Too freaking old to grunt and snort on this project. Will I read your work up on your thread and I could feel ur pain. :-)

I needed to push the spring down myself while a friend stuck the retainer clip in so I could get the cap off. Then same thing for reassembly.

I used the one where you manually torque down the hex bolt (shown below). They also offer a wall-mounted, foot-operated model that's a bit pricier.
