Had something random happen to me the other day and figured I'd share it here. I was backing out of a spot, bike running, when it suddenly shut off. All the lights and everything were on. No CEL. Tried to start it back up and she'd crank but not fire. Over and over. No go. So I figured I'd shut it off and turn it back on. When I was turning the key off I noticed it didn't move as far as usual.
Come to find out my mini carabiner had caught on the dash housing and turned the key EVER SO SLIGHTLY towards off. This position lets EVERYTHING work normally except for the ignition itself. Got home and duplicated the problem and sure enough - turning it just a LITTLE bit CCW from full on and everything will be normal but it won't fire.
Just something to look out for regarding a crank/no start/no codes issue!

Will relocate to avoid sudden shut off! |
