I'm getting a CHECK ENGINE light after blowing 2 fuses on my FZ. A friend says he has Yamaha software and a Yamaha diagnostic device for an R-1 type Marine engine on his boat.
Could someone inform me where this tool would be plugged in on my FZ? THANK YOU!!

I haven't personally had to utilize it yet, but reading the posts here through the years, a standard OBD2 reader with the additional 3 pin adapter plug should work and allow you to clear the codes. Otherwise you had to take to a Yamaha dealer to clear the codes.
I believe the connection is under the seat. It's a rounded, white plug.
Just Google something like "3 pin to OBD2 adapter Yamaha" and you should get results for the required adapter. And then just purchase an OBD2 reader of your choice.
Edit: 4 pin

It's actually a 4 pin adapter. Go to 12:52 in the video. He tells you where to connect it.

I figured if you get the adapter. At least here in south the auto zone or advanced auto parts stores will clear codes for free. They just have the adapters for the bikes.
