I’ve been checking out aftermarket pipes and I love the sound only thing is I’m not a huge fan of the look without the stock exhaust shield that is removed when you replace the link pipe (the one that gets rid of the huge breadbox under the chassis) has anyone ever seen an exhaust that keeps that even with a new link pipe? I assume it would have to be a custom job for it to mount to. Just thought I’d ask Probably going to go Akra can and link pipe with stock header when I do pull the trigger. Guessing full header system wouldn’t make that much of a difference for a street bike right? This one: ibb.co/vz74MRy

There is not a link pipe I know of that will allow you to keep that exhaust shield.
Akra, LeoVince, and Dan Moto do not have a mount for the shield.

Ah kind of what I figured. Sounds like it would have to be a custom job. Looking at the mount points might be tricky but definitely doable.

Buy these and then you can buy carbon heat shields from ebay or whatever and fit how you want

Not a bad idea! wonder if is good shop could put tabs on the link pipe for me for the stock or a custom shield.

Anybody know what material the second gen heat shield is? Aluminum, steel? I ask because I want to paint it but don’t know what kind of high heat paint to purchase, and I don’t have the bike yet. Silly question I know.

Totally agree with you on the "empty look" with link pipe installed...takes away from the muscular look and to me it looks like something is missing! I was able to remount my shield using some creative thinking and a couple of brackets and clamps. Been on there for 4 years with no problems. I'll snap some pix later today and show how this was done. I'm guessing the brand of link pipe and can chosen may change this somewhat, but again...thinking outside the box is key here.
