It is the first time I've heard of this issue on the MT but honestly any switch on a bike can go bad, the sidestand switch here does look like a magnet for chain splooge. Have you tried cleaning the switch up yet? Also I wouldn't cut any wires, I believe you will be able to insert jumper wires into the harness plug to bypass the switch as a test. I'm quite old, and bikes never used to come with a sidestand switch when I started riding; while I consider the switch is nice to have, it is not an essential safety item so long as you keep your wits about you. Having said that, in 1982 I dropped a CB250RS at the first s-bend after setting off, BECAUSE I did not retract the sidestand. So I learned my lesson, and now I ALWAYS check the stand is up. But that is just me. I cleaned it pretty good with chain cleaner and a brush and this was before testing it today. I’m religious about checking to make sure my kickstand is up as well. I may have to disable it to get it to my mechanics?

Would anyone mind sending the me the part number for the correct switch to purchase? Can't find an exact one online. Also I was now reading early 2017's Fz10s had an issue that would throw a code my bike I believe was an early 2017 and has a code (thought because of the exhaust previously). I want to replace the switch if I can figure out how and go from there.

Thank you very much! Ironically I fixed the issue. I cleaned the plunger this time with Wd40 and chain cleaner multiple times and it’s running smooth as butter now. Just thinking I should still replace it to be on the safe side?

Just thinking I should still replace it to be on the safe side? If it is working, at least you know what the issue was. Me personally, for piece of mind and for the price, I would still replace it. These bikes have an uncanny way of loosing power when taken by surprise in case it decide to act up again later.
