Hello everybody.
There's been an uptick of spam on the board. I thank those who report the posts (I get an email when that happens) and I'm usually pretty good at getting around to removing them pretty quickly so most people probably haven't noticed anything.
Sometimes these posts contain shady links inside of them. Whether pointing to a product or just being an obscure link, probably hoping on people's curiosity to get the best of them to click. Tonight we had two posts that just seemed like a news article that had links in the middle of them. I did not click the links but I suspect they were malicious and put there to get people to click on them just out of sheer curiosity.
Now it's pretty hard these days to get a virus just by clicking on a link, but often times these links may take you to pages that look like legitimate pages. Take for example, a Facebook page. And it'll ask you to login to your Facebook account and then they'll have your login credentials. This is 99 % what happens when one of your friends claims they were "hacked"
So just be aware, if you see members with low post counts posting nonsensical stuff or linking to a product in a forum that's unrelated, suspect its spam and report it. Always beware of being forwarded to any page that asks you for login credentials. Always check the address bar to make sure the actual URL matches what you're looking at.
