Picked up the 19' MT-10 this morning and rode it the 125 miles home in much colder weather than I would have preferred. As it only had 1205 miles on it, I rode it as per break in protocol rather than rode it like I stole it. I don't think there is much on the bike that hasn't been touched or upgraded. Integrated tail light/turn signal, Akra, decat, air filter, flash and tune, Brembo front brakes, master cylinder, sprocket and gold chain, windshield, QS with blip, fender eliminator, and some other bits and pieces. Good thing I had a friend drop me off as they had two boxes of OEM parts to take with me. Everything was professionally installed and done right. Pretty much everything I would have done to the bike myself. Kind of sad that someone had all of that work done and then had to get rid of the bike because it was too much for them.
The ride went well, the only issue was the fuel gauge not moving, but I hear that's an issue and I did fill it up after 55 miles. Very comfortable and flickable. Maybe not as great and smooth on very long and boring straight stretches of hwy as the ZX, but otherwise a better all around bike. Suppose to warm up in a few days and I'll take it to the twisties. Gonna take it to the track on the 21st of March and see how she handles without getting in the way of traffic.
Very fun bike. Sounds great with the pipe on it. Cool to have this forum, lots of good information.

The fuel gauge only over shows full, half full, 1/3 full and get ready to start walking. Even on the TFT dash on the SP model, which you'd think they could programme to show smaller increments.

Thanks for that. I had read so many horror stories of how lousy the gas mileage was that I wanted to keep it topped up when I could, since the stations were few and far between. Small matter as I usually go by the odometer reading anyway. I guess I'll ride it for a spell tomorrow and see if it moves any.

yea 55 miles will just about get to the 1/2 mark for me. It's a terrible gauge honestly lol. I usually fill up around 110 miles or so and it'll be blinking at me but it's mostly city commuting for me as well.

Very strange...they could have made it atleast like R1M where it shows fuel consumed... with MT10 i always keep calculating fuel remaining based on avg. consumption...half of the ride is ruined due to calculations LOL

Although I wonder if that changed for 2022 with all the tech updates...

Treat "full" like half a tank if you don't remember when you got gas. I dunno how many times I would jump on the bike, see full and skip getting gas, then be 3 minutes into my ride and it drops to half tank.

Yeah, like many people have posted and from what I have read, it goes from full tank to 1/2 tank in the blink of an eye. Took it out for a 30 mile ride and sure enough it went down after 15 miles. That was after a 55 mile ride yesterday. So about 65 miles for the tank to go from full to 1/2. Finally have nice weather to ride after 1100. Great bike, corners like it's on rails, very light and nimble. Totally different experience from the ZX14R or any big sport bike. I would have got myself in a lot of trouble if I had this bike while I was in my teens or 20's. Still getting used to cornering. The ZX liked a single input and loved sweepers. This thing is so quick and flickable that you can change lines at will. I really wanted a new SP. I may get one eventually and turn this into a track bike, but this bike brings back memories of the early R1, FJ1200, and earlier self made cafe racers. With the Akra pipe, this thing sounds like a bike should.

When it comes to accuracy I dont depend on the fuel gauge. I just use that as a general indicator.
I have learned (the hard way LOL) that my bike gets ~130 miles per tank up to 140 if I go easy on the throttle.
So I just reset the trip meter each fill up and use that for knowing exactly how much range I have left before needing gas again.

Don't even waste time looking at the fuel gauge. Just assume 110mi range from a full tank and plan accordingly.

This is exactly what i am doing...220Kms~230kms on full tank with trip1 meter reset at every fueling...

What a fun bike to ride. One of the best all around bikes I have ridden in a long time. So much more comfortable than the ZX14R and R!. One thing I have to get used to is the turn signals. That is about the only thing that Harley got right. Turn signals on the side of the handlebar where you wish to turn and self cancelling. Several times today I was that guy riding down the rode with his turn signal still blinking. In a more perfect world, I would have the MT-10, the ZX14R and a 2004-2009 Sportster. But for just having one bike, the MT-10 works like a charm. I really wanted the SP, but I have poor impulse control and a lack of patience in certain areas. Best case scenario being that I keep this bike for the track and the SP as my daily ride.

That's normal for sportbikes though. You can get an auto-cancel module though, I think it works based off of lean angle.
