Not mine, thankfully, but I just saw a post on the MT10 Owners facebook page about another blown engine (rods) in a 2021 under 5k miles. Is this becoming a problem?? Or do we just only hear about the bad ones....

Definitely got my eyes on the recent reports and given the issues with the R1s have as well. Only good thing about that is the R1s have their issues in the camshaft and we have different cams so they might not necessarily be related.
Hard to say what's going on and if it's a problem. Every manufacturer for every model of every motor vehicle is bound to engine or transmission failures. I think when it becomes a concern is when mechanics start reporting these issues as typical like with the 15-17 R1s. So far I haven't heard that, but definitely a bit concerned given the recent reports.
I ride my 17 hard and very high in RPM ranges and she's still going strong. Checked what we could of the engine when we did the valves and everything looked ok.

I ride the crap out of mine (lots of track time) and I have no cat and a 2WDW tune.
Most of the engine problem posts I've seen involve someone running without a cat and without the proper tune.
