Hello FZ/MT-10 owners and riders!
According to the software responsible for making this forum work I've visited and lurked on here 16 times without introducing myself.
So! Sorry about that. Nobody was offended, I feel sure. Who knew I was here anyway?
Name's Martyn. British. Living in the US. Eugene, Oregon. (just occurred to me that with that info you'd pretty easily be able to find me. Eugene's pretty small). Digression is part of my charm. I'm 65, been riding almost continually since I was 11 and still don't know shit about motorcycles. Well, I do. A bit. But if anyone has an IRC quickshifter on a 2017 FZ-10 and you've made it work smoothly and your check engine light hasn't come on, which BTW has never happened on more than a dozen bikes I've owned over the years, and you can understand that little orange control box and it's myriad codes. PLease! Help!
I'm going to take it all off, I think. It's a pain because the tank, air-box and trumpets have to come out so that you can plug in the IRC harness to you coil plugs. than you plug you bikes coil plugs into the harness, fit your sensor and rod and off you go. Except I didn't, at least not without a whole bunch of hassle and as I mentioned, the check engine light is now taunting me with an expensive bill from a Yamaha dealer. It would appear that fitting a 2018 MT-10 shifter will work. Does it? Is it worth spending even more money and will it drive me crazy in the process?
OK! Good talk. Thanks for reading.
Ride safely but very quickly in the twisties,
MC

Welcome Martyn, I don't know about the IRC quickshifter other than it sounds like a better system than the stock Yamaha and it can be upgraded to autoblip downshift as well. Hopefully you can get this sorted. If not, I have heard others on this forum that used the 2018 stock quickshifter upgrade on the 2017 FZ10. But this does not quickshift while downshifting. Good Luck!

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm once again composing an email to the supplier of the QS. They're on the opposite side of the country and we're struggling with a three hour time difference and the fact that despite my age I'm working full time. I had been hoping to speak to a person but it appears that they wish to conduct their trouble shooting via email.
I'm giving it one last try and then I'm taking the whole shebang off and ordering a stock Yamaha QS. It may well not be as sophisticated but it's almost certain to work right out of the box unlike the one I've paid a fortune for.
I'll post an update at some point in the future. But im less than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome.
Anyone want to by an IRC QS? Hardly used.
Update: The supplier, I can name them now, MotoD, sent me a set of codes which I entered into the tiny control box under the seat. (You can mount it anywhere of course). I am now able to make smooth, high rev, throttle open, clutchless changes. The problem had been a combination of naivety on my part and a somewhat less than clear set of detailed installation/setup instructions from Italy (translated into English). But...I'm now a happy bunny and the QS is staying on so it's no longer for sale.

Update: Moto D IRC QS is great. Check engine light still on! Yamaha dealership couldn't get it to go out. (not kidding. They're new to Yamahas. Lucky me.) Puig touring screen fitted. Best mod/upgrade to the FZ10 after braided steel brake lines. Replaced the levers. Fitted SW-Motech Blaze bags. Axle and frame sliders fitted. Removed passenger footpegs. Looking forward to Laguna Seca in July.
