Typical is 600. www.manualslib.com/manual/1310819/Yamaha-Mt-10.html?page=66#manualSo basically do 600 miles under 6k RPM, change the oil and filter and have at it. "Avoid prolonged operation above 7100 RPM" That's cruising down the highway at 80+ for hours on end.

Prolonged use above 6000rpm. I read that as you can go above 6000rpm for short bursts just don’t hold there. They don’t want you getting the engine too hot. I think a lot of deceleration is important aswell. So a lot of on off with the throttle to get a reversal of pressure and vacuum on the rings to help seat them. Then replace oil to get rid of any shavings captured in the oil.

I figure that giving the extra 200 miles of break in doesn’t hurt but gives the bearings, pistons, connecting rods a bit more time to seat in. Better to err on the side of cautious I say. What is another tank and half of gas before u become a hooligan.
