Not sure this belong in technical but couldn't think of anywhere else.
So, I'm a fairly heavy guy. 6' Tall 250#. I'm coming off an FJR1300, love the Riding position but it's not as sporty as I would like. I am absolutely not ever considering a supersport (images of a circus bear on a tiny bicycle come to mind) so I thought I'd give the MT-10 a try. As it does not seem in stock anywhere near me, I put a deposit down on one that should arrive sometime in August. Problem is I never even sat on one. I guess I can always cancel the sale and lose my deposit if I don't fit on it.
Two questions though. If anyone has the answers that'd be fantastic.
Knees; How bent would you think the keens are on the MT-10 vs the FJR1300? That's a big one for me as both my knees are kinda shot (being overweight for 40 years does that)
Suspension; I am by no means going to race the thing, but is the stock suspension going to handle my weight, can't find any info on max weight.
Thanks so much for your input if you have any.

I find the bike pretty comfortable minus the stock seat. But for riding position, it's a damn comfortable bike especially compared to a Supersport.
The stock seat is hard and I found it pretty uncomfortable. You may be interested in upgrading. There's posts in the parts section about the different seats. They're fairly costly but worth it IMO. Another recommendation would be to put grip pads on the tank.
As far as suspension and presuming that you're riding this fairly normal (commuting and joyriding vs canyon carving and trackdays) the stock suspension will be able to handle your weight for regular type riding. BUT DEFINITELY take it to a tuner and get the suspension set for your weight. This is fairly cheap, my guy charges $40 and you will see a SIGNIFICANT change in how well the bike feels. S/he will also advise you if they are reaching the bottom/top adjustments of the stock suspension settings and advise if spring upgrades or other suspension upgrades are recommended. This is my number one recommendation for all sportbike riders for all bikes. Take the bike to a suspension tuner even if your dealer "tunes" your suspension. It is the absolute best bang for your buck.
I think most riders find the suspension ok but if you consider future suspension upgrades, most people seem to upgrade the rear shock and report a significant improvement.
Gunna move this to the General Section. This is more of a general discussion related to the bike vs a technical issue with the bike. :-)

I am 6'1" and about 210 to 215 with old knees too and the riding position is great. I agree that the stock seat is hard and you may want to look at the options out there.
I also agree getting the suspension set up for you as it comes set really soft from the factory. You can do it yourself with a bit of internet research or spend 50 bucks if you have a decent shop close. I dialed mine in and had plenty of adjustment left, you should be able to set the stock suspension up for you decent enough for everyday riding.

Nice, thanks for the input guys. Will definitely tune the suspension. I did it myself on the old FJR1300 and got it to where I was very comfortable yet super stable at high speed cornering with the preload lever to hard in the back. MT10 does have that but I'm sure I can make it work. Picking it up today.

I'm 65, 6'1" 260 with 1 bad knee and other that got broken when I was hit by a car 3 years ago and had to be screwed back together. Had a total knee replacement in April and I've ridden through all of it. Only missed 1 month of riding after knee replacement. Riding 750 miles next week down to Back of the Dragon to meet up with a couple of friends. I have to get off and stretch it out once in a while but mostly I'm very good.

I'm 70, 5'7", 200 lb and find the bike very neutral, it fits me fine, no issues as far as I'm concerned. I don't even mind the stock seat, I have to get off every 100 miles +/- but with our fuel range that's no big deal. I had the first year FJR1300 and its riding position was very neutral to me, if you get along with the FJR's positioning you'll be fine with the MT-10. Both have a relaxed, easy positioning with no crouching or stretching required. But you'll find the MT-10 a lot lighter and more nimble, especially at lower speeds.

Well, I was worried for nothing. I wanna say, position is almost exact the same as the FJR. Didn't even need to look for the pegs, my foot found them first try when I sat on it. I can't really feel any discomfort over the FJR. Maybe the saddle, like you guys said, it's tolerable but might wanna upgrade that at some point.
What a bike. Got it on Friday at 1km, did over 800km over the weekend. Very nice. Scary powerful. At 7k RPM, the sound just changes, and it wants to buck me off the back, bad. Just thinking about it gets my blood pumping.
One thing I don't like off the bat; the engine breaking. God damn. Releasing the throttle is like hitting a brick wall. No matter the speed or gear, with no braking at all I get down to 25Km/h in like 50 feet... my hands hurt after a few hours from pushing back on the bars all the time.
I suppose I'll get used to it, and so far the experience is well worth the one small downside. Couldn't be happier.

I moved to the MT and sold my Honda ST1300. I actually found the MT to be comfier than the ST with a little more leg room and less wrist weight. I've got the comfort seat, and find it a fun place to sit, my biggest day so far was 650km more or less non-stop on twisty roads. I miss the ST's adjustable screen but am happy to miss the engine heat.

I'm 43yo 6'3" 225lbs with old skater knees and the position is just fine but as stated above the stock seat sucks after 100 or more miles. I've had a comfort seat on order for about 6 months so if yo udo want to replace it be prepared to wait.
