Hi, i know and everybody says it everywhere on repetitive basis that the engine is from R1 but what about the transmission/gear ratios? Are they from R1 also or they are regeared for a street use?

The R1 is identical except for the final drive which has a 41 tooth sprocket instead of 43 for taller gearing on the R1.

Definitely thinking of putting a 41T rear on honestly. 6k @ 80MPH is a bit harsh IMO

Yes the image is taken from the MT-10 service manual. The R1 table below is identical with the exception of the final driven sprocket size:
The link indicated a different primary reduction (crank to clutch basket) between the R1 and MT, which seems unlikely as that would require engineering changes to the crank and clutch which would be costly for Yamaha.

I mean they went and changed a bunch of other stuff to drop 40HP from the R1 so it wouldn't be that far-fetched

The link says it is a 2012 R1.

The link says it is a 2012 R1. The service manual for the 2015-2019 R1 (where our engines come from) says the same

Terrys, can you find similar spec for Mt10 and possibly post it here?

Remember that if you change the secondary ratio the cruise control will not work anymore.

www.gearingcommander.com/ I recommend this site to everyone it has way more then you would want to know about gearing for tons of bikes and changes in ratios if you are thinking about it. Just type in your year make and model and it will give you the oem ratio from the factory then you can add 2 more changes and conpare theoretical or mathamatical let's say If on a Dino.

Remember that if you change the secondary ratio the cruise control will not work anymore. Sure it will. It uses the ABS speed sensors on the wheels. It'll work just fine.

I thought the same thing when it was shared with me. I hope it's helpful with possible gearing changes.
