I bought a set of Vortex levers. I only had time to change my front clutch lever about 6 weeks ago but then parked my bike until a week ago after having knee replacement surgery. I noticed this week that my cruise control wasn't working. I also noticed my quick shifter wasn't working right. I went out to finally change the clutch lever. The shop I ordered it from ordered the wrong model. I took it back and he's getting me a new one. In the mean time I looked in the shop manual and and saw there is a little switch that the clutch lever depresses when the clutch is engaged. The Vortex clutch lever wasn't engaging it. Since I've been using it, I can't take it back now so I took a file to it and was able to fit it so it was depressing the switch. I took the bike for a test ride and the cruise control was still blinking and not working. The blinking is to signal it's not working. My quick shifter was now working correctly. I got home and figured I'd check the fuse. I pulled it out and it was good. Put it back in and the next morning I went for an extended ride. For the hell of it, I tried the cruise control and it was no longer blinking but stayed on steady. I set the speed and it's working fine now. The bike was off the night before with no key in the ignition when I checked the fuse but somehow it seemed to have reset itself. Does anyone have any guess as to why it started working again?

There is a recall on the brake switch which could also result in cruise control issues.

It's possible but I doubt it is related to the brake switch.

The symptoms you describe absolutely sound like the brake light switch fault. My bike was fine when I bought it, a week later I couldn't set cruise and the light was blinking. Turns out the front brake switch was intermittently stuck closed by corrosion, and that stops the cruise working. If you check your brake light function you may see it stuck on when the cruise won't work.
I freed the switch up with contact cleaner and WD40 and it has been fine for 6000km but I am booked in for a switch swap-out under warranty when parts are available.

You should have gotten a recall letter for the brake switch, get it done anyways. I did hear about some levers that fit the 2017's perfectly didn't work with the 2018+ due to some difference in the switches. One manufacturer had the switch block bolt-on and they'd send you a replacement that was a different shape.

I had issues with the cruise control working and then not working. After reading some threads here I was able to identify my issue as a sticking rear brake switch.
Lubing the switch with some Yamahlube/WD-40 and working it in real good cured my issue.
Everything works like new now!

It wasn't the brake switch which I doubted would be the problem. I got the correct lever installed and then pulled the fuse out which appears to have reset. It's been working perfectly for the last 3 weeks.
