So I just came off of a Honda cbr1000rr. Stock exhaust on it.
I love my new to me FZ-10, everything about it, but the sound. Stock exhaust.
It does not "sing" like the cbr liter engine, it's a lower tone, not smooth. Sure has the power and pull, but if it could sound smooth and not like a thumper .......
I don't want it to be louder, just more like the R1. Is it the cat / muffler that gives it the different sound? Or the silencer?
Anyone try an R1 silencer?

Anyone try an R1 silencer? It’s the cp4 motor! That’s the way they sound! They will never sound nothing like all your other inline 4’s because of the cross plane crank! My MT10 with the 3/4 yoshi system is the best sounding bike iv ever heard! |

It's the best sound I've ever heard in a bike ,I'm partial owning one but I've had a great sounding v-twin . Some people say the Aprilia v4 is the best sounding bike I have not had a chance to hear one close up.
I hope I get a chance to hear the 3/4 yoshi in person also. These bikes have that mini v8 rumble but high reving you'll learn to love it too..

I've put close to 400 miles on it over the past few days, stock seat sucks. The sound is just different. Must be the cat that gives it that tone, another owner posted a video of the bike with the stock exhaust running, then he pulled the silencer off, so just the cat and pipe left. Not alot different, a little deeper tone.
Just does not sound smooth, rumbly / bumpy, almost like it's missing, but one twist of the throttle and you know it isn't!
Just different than the smooth song of the crotch rocket motors.
Seat has to go bye bye first!

That's the nature of a CP4 engine, characteristics of a vee twin at low rpm, an inline four at higher rpms. Take it up with Valentino Rossi if you don't like it, he had a lot of input into the development of the design. Sound control is handled in the cat, not in the silencer which is a straight through design. |

I guess it is a love it or hate it bike . I can tell you I came from a single duke 690 loved it thumper. Then a fz09 triple really loved it and now 4 cylinder v twin sounding bike I love the most by far the most fun I've had yet on 2 wheels without going 120 plus speeds. I like my insurance cheap this bike fits all my needs. It's not for everyone that's why it's rare I guess .

Just added an Akrapovic TI mid pipe and Termignoni Carbon Exhaust! Had 2WDW flash the ECU! This bike is absolutely amazing! The sound is epic! Deep sound!   |
