Hello all,
I have a 2018 mt10 2000 km driven on weekend, today Sunday I took it for a short ride and got it washed, I usually wash it once every two weeks hand wash only no power wash at all, after the wash I drove it for 30 km, did some speed runs and all was fine and smooth, I went back to the basement parking in my building, unfortunately there was some foam and I slipped slightly on my left side and the bike dropped but no major impact , the moment it dropped the bike shut down, I immediately lifted it up, to be honest this was one heavy dam lift, but luckily I am strong enough since I did some power lifting, I tried to start the bike it cranked several times and then it started then I drove it for 50 meters and got it parked. I then checked the bike all over, fortunately there have been no damage or leakage whatsoever only minor scratches on the left sliders. After 20 minutes I tried to start the bike again, it couldn't start!! it was cranking and I could here the fuel pump, the led light on dashboard all fine, no check engine, at all, fuel pump sound OK , horn is fine signal light working fine, but it won't start, only a loud buzzing sound coming from the below driver seat, I took off the seat and cranked it again the buzzing sound was coming from the servomotor.. I wish I can upload the.. . Video here, my friend told me it is the battery since I have cranked it several times and it could have drained the battery,
I hope no water came inside and damaged some electronic but I have driven it 30 km after and it was fine..
Any advice and thank u all
Happy eater for all.
Alex

I'm with your friend a similar thing happened to my FZ09 did not drop but after a wash it would take a few more cranks to light off then before. I then went for a ride to see what was up came to a stop and it died on me never before has this happened. I did not even believe it was battery related at all as a forum member said it could be, he was right I picked up a lithium and all problems were gone. looking forward to picking one up for the 10 when stock battery takes a crap. The drop may just be a coincidence in timing , did you notice if it was slow on start up or takes more cranks . I keep mine on a tender but it still seems like the stock battery is not enough to fire these 10s up the lithium will fire on a half crank. I Picked the one for the 09 for 80 bucks that's less then a cheap oem ..

I had the battery voltage checked, and it was 11.5 volts below operating voltage requirements so it is under charge now, let's how it is only the battery...

The actual cranking voltage needs to be up to par even if it shows 12 plus volt then when you hit the start button then it drops below 11 it could be a weak battery . I would change it out even a good charge to battery may not fix it. I would have it checked for Amp drop if you don't want to buy a new one . Battery on the 09 was almost 2 yrs old and it was done.

Hello,
I have just installed the charged up battery, the bike fired up from the first crank, I am so happy, I checked the voltage during idle it the voltage increases from 12 v up to 14 volts, seems the alternator is charging but I don't fee comfortable with this battery anymore, I thinking to be buy a new one, I suspect the dealer didnot charge it up during purchase since the bike is 2018 moel and was in a box for 3 years...

I would replace it just to take it out of the equation. Look into the lithium unless your in a really cold climate might be the only downfall on them. Have had one in my kids raptor 700 for 4 years now zero issues never needs charge unless you have a draw they can sit for a very long time without a charge. Heard you can get like 7 plus years out of them. That's actually my next purchase my bikes a 2020 but oem batteries are weak I think.

I was just going to look it up online ,I do not have one picked out yet Shorai is the one in my kids raptor it's expensive but I bought a blue one forget the brand for my 09. You may need to make your choice depend on your location and availability.

Antigravity ATZ-10-RS Shorai LFX19A4-BS12
I tried the Antigravity one and sent it back after it nearly fried my bike electronics (bad control board, 17-22 volts when engine running...)

Not sure who's the best Ive only had the Shorai and has been with zero issues the one I bought for the FZ09 i trading bike in right after so I can not speak of its performance , the draw back is if you do need to charge it you will need a lithium charger to charge it. I never needed one thus far so we just drain the gas tank and it sits until the next season and has fired every time over 6 month of sitting fires right up. But you should do some research on your own before you pull the trigger on a new and different type of battery, I for sure do not want to incurage to make a bad decision on a battery purchase or any purchase I can only give a little insight on my experience with them and will buy one for the 10 soon ..

One more thing you could lose up to 7-8 lbs over the OEM battery lithium is super light.
