Has anyone gotten the part and did the install themselves instead of taking it to the dealer? Got mine today. Gunna be a few days before I get to install it. Working long hours at work with the cold weather.

Noticed that the part number in the above post is a different part number than the one in the partzillla post. Maybe they are using a different part number for this specific recall?

Just curious for those that have had your local dealer order the replacement how long it took for them to call you and say "Your part is in come on in" So far I am on week number two waiting. He did tell me that it may take longer than usual because some of the parts were being drop shipped from Japan but just curious on other's experience.

I have a 2017 FZ10. On Partzilla's website the part number for a 2017 FZ10 is B67-83980-00-00. For 2018 and newer MT10 the part number is B67-83980-01-00. To not have to deal with the dealer, which is the correct one to purchase? (I know its free if I take it to the dealer, just don't want to deal with them)

It's most likely just an updated design. I'd order the latest version, meaning the '18.

Haven't gotten a letter yet but I called the dealer and they're ordering the part. They'll let me know when it comes in and if it's sooner rather than alter (seeing how the bike's still apart) I'll trailer it down so they can replace the switch. If it comes in later after the bike is all back together I'll have to stop by on my way home from work one day or something

To any Australian MT10 owners I just got my recall message via txt. I have contacted the dealer (Sydney City Motorcycles at Caringbah)and sent them my details. They are organizing parts and will be installing free of charge. My bike was purchased in 2016. Hello XXXX, This is a message from Yamaha Motor Australia to advise you that we are conducting a SAFETY RECALL on your MT10A, VIN XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, whereby the Brake Switch will be replaced. Please contact your local Yamaha Dealer to arrange for the replacement to be fitted free of charge. For further information please visit our website www.yamaha-motor.com.au/ownership/support/customer-notificationsDo NOT reply unless SOLD or STOP to no longer receive SMS from Yamaha.

This was happening to my MT10 , I bought a new switch but now I’m wondering if the new switch I bought is defective. Hummmm
edit : read the whole post. I need to find my new in the package switch I bought last season and check part numbers and see if I can exchange it. I didn’t want to wait 4-6 weeks for the dealer to diagnose the problem and all that crap. I knew it was the micro switch. As of now my rear light comes on only when I press the foot back brake. I made a post about this last year asking if anyone else had this problem. Now with spring around the corner I might be struggling to get a non defective switch.

I did this for $12 and 30 minutes of my time. No dealer necessary. Just replace microswitch.

I had my first switch apart fought I fixed it I tough but it was at first. The problem happened again. Where did you get a small water resistant switch to fit ? My mt10 has 2 switched in that small black box under the brake lever .

It should be noted the replacement switch now appears to be B67-83980-02-00. Looks like the recall kit includes: Parts Schematic items 12 - 1512 B67-83980-02-00(replaces part #B67-83980-00-00) FRONT STOP SWITCH 13 98517-04012-00(replaces part #98502-04012-00) SCREW,PANHEAD 14 92990-04100-00(replaces part #92902-04100-00) WASHER, SPRING 15 92990-04600-00(replaces part #92902-04600-00) WASHER, PLATE

Update, Switch part number was superseded however their system was notifying of backorder for the original part number.
Thought I would let everyone know I placed an order through an online vendor for the parts above and was notified the Front Stop Switch is on a national backorder. Waiting for call back from the vendor to confirm expected delivery.
Fingers crossed. Maybe I'll have the parts in 2 weeks.
