Great. I like to see parts get used rather than sit in a box in my garage. As you live in Massachusetts, we can probably meet up and I can give them to you. FYI - Skip recommended going to a 2.5 weight fork oil and dropping the level. I'd give him a call when your ready to do it and ask him. The combination worked pretty good.
My cartridges are due to get to me as soon as next week based on what Fast Bike Ind. told me. Being bored out of my mind, I'll probably jump on doing them pretty quickly and have the current 9.5 springs pulled out.
I ordered Andreani cartridges back in Feb. It took almost 5 weeks to get them. I went out to the garage and took the forks apart and as soon as I saw the stock cartridge end, I knew the Andreanis were wrong. Completely different ends plus the Andreanis were about 8" longer than the stock. Just to make it a little worse, I had bought the Andreani fork tool shown in their instructions, as it's brand specific and they listed the wrong tool part number in the instructions. That was the end of the Andreani experiment. I called Fast Bike Industries and they are the distributor for Ohlins, Andreani and Nitron in the USA, they gave me discounts on the Ohlins cartridges and 2 Ohlins tools that I needed. They arrived last week and I finished installing them last Saturday. They do work well and are easy to set up. With that being said, the stock front end with the correct spring weight does work fairly well. BTW, I see no advantage with Ohlins vs K-Tech. Both work great but K-Tech is less money.
So with that being said, I have a set of 9.5 and 10.0 K-Tech springs for the stock MT 10 forks. In a surprising twist, the K-Tech springs for the stock cartridges are not the same as the ones that work with K-Tech cartridges. I'm asking $60 a set. Will has first dibs if he still wants them. Dang what a PITA! Consider the 9.5's sold. Gotta figure out a time/place to meetup. Looks like you're about an hour from me. Someplace on 146 seems like it would be best

Anyone else been having delayed notifications from the forum? Anyways Saturdays and Sundays are the only times that work for me. Seeing how you're having surgery I wouldn't mind driving to you if that works.

So it took a really long time for me to finally meet up with Will84 to get the springs to him. In my defense, I did have a total knee replacement 5 weeks ago which was a fairly major interruption in my life. He is the second person I've met in person from motorcycle forums and I have to say a very cool guy. His wife came along with him and he has a great wife also. Even though we didn't have a lot of time, it was good to talk MT 10s. Funny side note....I told him to meet me at the milk bottle and he knew exactly where I meant.

It was nice meeting up with you as well! Looking forward to getting the springs in and oil changed and hopefully getting together for some rides this summer!

I finally bit the bullet and bought fork cartridges. I'd previously changed out front fork springs twice and although it was better, I don't think it was nearly as good as other bikes I had which I had done cartridges. Rather than spending $1200 for K-Tech or Ohlins, I decided to go with Andreani which were on sale from Fast Bike. I had to call and ask if Andeani even offered a kit for the MT 10 which they do. I should have them in about 2 weeks. I've had my forks apart and once you go through the process it's fairly easy. Looking forward to hitting the road with a better handling bike this spring. The rear has K-tech on it since It was a few weeks old. How did those Andreani cartridges work out for you? I need to get a pair of new cart. and hate to spend the big bucks on a new bike that should have quality parts in it.

Andreani have a good reputation for other bikes. They sent the wrong cartridges from Italy. They weren't even close. They were from an R1. The problem is that the R1 changes cartridges every year or 2 and it's hard to figure out which ones might work in the MT 10. Andreani didn't know so I ended up going with Ohlins which are very good BUT, I originally did only K-tech springs which were for my weight and changed to 2.5 weight oil and adjusted the level per K-Tech recommendations and the stock forks were not far off from the Ohlins for most riding. When I was on The Back of the Dragon 3 weeks ago, I really pounded the bike and the Ohlins were flawless. They are similar to motocross suspension.........they don't come alive until you really push them. They are also very oriented to quick changing springs and adjustment. If you're not going to use your bike on the track, I'd recommend getting the forks sprung for you're weight and contacting K-Tech or Fast bike for oil and set up questions. I changed out the rear shock to K-Tech and I'd definitely recommended doing one of the major brand rear shocks.
