How much is it? I'd really not have them touch it. Yamaha P/N B67-83980-01-00 (not sure if that's the original or the updated one - I looked up a 2019). PartZilla lists it at $121 retail with their price being $80. They say that P/N fits 2018-2020 MT-10

Just called and talked to the owner of my local dealer who I've known for a LONG time. He said definitely NO to getting the part and doing it yourself which is what I knew but figured I'd ask anyways. Looks like I'll be bringing the bike down - probably make an appointment to stop on my way home from work one day or something.

Sounds like I'll pass or buy it myself. The dealer and their incompetence can stick in in their ass.

Got the official Yamaha recall letter in the mail on Jan 29th. Mine hasn't given me any problems so I will hold off until it fails, if it ever does. After 4 1/2 years no issues with the cruise control. I go by the motto, "Never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you". So far, no trouble.

Interesting. So this is a dual-action switch that performs like the factory one?

Just received the recall notice today, called our local dealer and they verified the VIN then ordered the replacement switch. Doesn't sound like a huge issue even though I already had the switch replaced for the identical issue back a year or so ago. Has worked fine ever since. BUt I will go ahead and take the upgraded version as they may have changed it. Unlike others we have a very competent local dealer.

Interesting. So this is a dual-action switch that performs like the factory one? The factory switch isn't a dual-action but rather it has two separate switches in it. Switch part starts at 20:11 if the video doesn't start there

Interesting. So this is a dual-action switch that performs like the factory one? It quite literally is the factory switch, completely OEM. But rather than buying the complete switch unit which has 2 micro switches inside, you are simply replacing one of the micro switches. For the people out there that are concerned with dropping off their bikes to the dealer for the recall, an option may be to purchase the micro switch and replace themselves.

How difficult is this repair? I'll do this myself for $8.

How difficult is this repair? I'll do this myself for $8. Have you ever soldered before? If so it is literally a matter of opening up the switch, cutting two wires, and resoldering them back together with some shrink wrap. Literally, it's that easy. The most difficult part of it all was probably fishing the wire harness back through behind the forks and through the side panel. In all seriousness even that was not difficult. Even if you don't know how to solder, buy a cheap soldering gun and watch a couple YouTube videos. Don't drop $120 if you're out of warranty or not eligible for the recall repair.

Oh no. I'm eligible for the recall. I just don't allow monkeys to touch or "work" on my bikes if I can help it.
Even if I don't know what I'm doing I'd do a cleaner job than a dealership employee. Thank you for the information. I will look into this further.

Phasterthanyou-
It's $20 shipping to the United States of Biden. Which is more than the switch but less than the taxes that guy will cost me as a citizen. Any other ideas? Can I buy from you? Are you from the land of affordable medication aka Canada?

Are you from the land of affordable medication aka Canada? Dang bro! I think I paid somewhere around $12 shipping. But I also bought 2 switches, got an extra one for a backup. Sorry man, maybe I should have bought more to help everyone out. If only we knew this was going to be such a common issue. I'm here in sunny Florida, home of the "Florida Man". Lol

thats what the website said but when i went to purchase there was an option for 4.99 which is way more than ill get back than an economic stimulus check. so thanks. now i just need directions on this!
the video above is a modification to the original switch. and the photo of the D2HW-BL202MR switch from digikey looks slightly different. are we modding or just replacing?
please clarify before i purchase. it would seem that i need two switches?

The video I posted is modding the switch for use with the R1 radial master cylinder conversion. I just posted that part so people could see that it's two individual switches instead of just one dual-action switch

dudes,
i ordered two switches and im going to fix this brake switch better than any yamaha dealer can. AND it will cost me $18 and a beer. i figured with the time the dealership will waste by having me bring the bike in twice-- once to order the part and then once again to have them keep the bike overnight for the install-- im still way ahead of the game. it will be much more personally satisfying to complete this myself and to not have inferior attempts at a repair done by dealership personnel.
