Just wondering regarding the right choise of oil plug crusher. I know its easy to check with a magnet, but my bike is in storage quite far away so wondering if anyone knows wether the oil pan is steel or aluminium?
If the latter, im worried about calvanic corrosion with copper crushers on the oil pan, a real PITA since aluminium doesnt show any rust, just gets brittle and eventually breaks.
Any ideas?

I've always used the actual crush style ones (like Suzuki likes to use) over the standard washer type. Those are steel I believe. On my MT I used the factory one as Yamaha offers a lifetime engine warranty if you use OEM filters and the Yamalube oil

The OEM ones i think are aluminium (non-magnetic anyways), this would make sense to use if the oil pan is also aluminium, as copper (standard crushers) is very harsh on aluminium. Copper has a electron potential of 0.34 V, Aluminium -1.66 V, that is huge, Iron to zinc difference is about 0.7 V for reference.
Ive used copper crushers for two years now and nothing bad has happened (yet), but when finding the original crusher again it got me worried.
Ofcause due to the gasket, most likely only the oil pan itself would eventually crack (or the threads would strip first), but that isnt ideal either.

The pan is aluminum, the flat washer is AL, too. Been using a flat aluminum washer for over four years, no issues.

Regarding this, im not entirely sure but i think i saw some crevice corrosion where the crusher sits during the oil change today, so definitely stay clear of copper guys.
