Hit the twisties today with the misses(2up) and going pretty hard, no wobble. Dropped her off at the pie shop and pushed it a fair bit harder up and down the same road. Noticed some wobble in the rear on hard acceleration. Picked her up again and rode home, didn’t notice any wobble. I’m 80kg the wife is 55kg and the bike has genuine rear rack and 50l top box (this was installed years ago). Most of my long hard rides are pillioning... So days like these are rare, in that I don’t often get to push the bike hard on my own but in doing so I noticed this odd wobble in the rear. Was repeatable upon hard acceleration every time I hit it hard. Bikes 4 years old and has done around 35,000km’s, prolly 30,000 with pillion, don’t think I’ve noticed this wobble before. Recent additions /changes to the bike; Had a new rear tyre installed a few weeks ago (now has Angel gt II’s front & back) Tank ring & 3l tank bag Removed stock mirrors and installed bar end mirrors My initial thoughts were that my number two was missing so the wind was catching my 50l top box, forcing a wobble? Any suggestions before I start looking into it.

It's possible that a spacer was placed incorrectly with the new rear tire. If this is the first time you've noticed it start looking there. These bikes are a bit of a pain to change rear tires on compared to other models/manufacturers.

I’ve decided to take it in to get the balance checked, alignment, etc. I’ll get them to check the spacer as well.

The Angel GT II has had some reports of causing front end wobble due to the center rain grooves, but haven’t heard of it in the back, but you never know.
I went from Angel GT’s to the GT II’s on my previous bike. Under hard acceleration the front end would wobble, I really didn’t like the feel, but didn’t have issues with the rear. It was only under hard acceleration though; constant speeds, normal acceleration, and braking were fine.
Also complaints when on roads with rain grooves, as the grooves in the tire riding on the road rain grooves cause the tire to hunt for traction and wobble. Possibly could be happening on your rear, though I’ve haven’t heard of this yet, and the extra weight of a passenger causes it to settle in more.

That’s exactly why I bought the Road 5’s. I loved my old Perelli Diablo ST tires I had on my Blackbird years ago but after reading the reviews about the Angel II’s I wasn’t going to risk it.

Any update? Sometimes it can be a suspension issue. Would recommend exploring a visit to a suspension tuner, especially with that too box.

Agree, it only surfaced under hard acceleration. All very possible - rain grooves in road/tires etc.

Any update? Sometimes it can be a suspension issue. Would recommend exploring a visit to a suspension tuner, especially with that too box. I took it in for a rear wheel inspection last week just before heading out over the weekend for a 4 day 2Up tour. Just back only hours ago and put around 2,000km’s on the clock but unfortunately was with pillion the entire time. I did cop a nice front wobble, was in 6th and planted it on a long straight and copped some serious front wobble at the long end of my acceleration. I eased off immediately and restored control. I can’t say with any certainty if the road was excessively bumpy or not but these were regional roads in NSW so likely not great. In the 4 years I’ve owned it I’ve had the odd occurrence, thinking it was set off by a bump in the road while travelling at high speeds, accelerating while travelling over some degree/branches on the road or possibly even tire pressure and then there’s the suspension which I know is likely off. It is interesting to read what pc1978 had to say about the GT II’s. I’l have to see how this pans out but definitely need to find a suspension tuner first, before making any assumptions.

Hey everyone. I had this same issue ( the wobble) at a somewhat random fashion. When I ramped up the throttle and while leaning into curves. Turned out to be tire pressure. ( had me dumbfounded). Yes! Hadn;t checked the tyres for over a few months since the bike was garaged and winter at its zenith. Turns out I lost about 20 psi, due to the cold weather( and normal losses?). The bike was riding ok with lower speeds and no hard cornering. Anyhow, when the tyre pressure was set right, the problem disappeared.
