Is there much improvement to be had flashing the ECU while running an aftermarket muffler (Arrow Indy) with the stock cat and wiring open the EXUP valve?

You should read the thread right below this one in this section, the short answer is “yes” even with the stock exhaust there are significant gains to be had.

Why does the ex up valve need to be wired open Is the valve disabled when flashed? Im going back to the stock cat and can Delkevic is to loud . Until I figure out the exhaust issue I would like to just do a flash to completely stock bike but I dont want everything that is done with the flash, can things be left out of the flash like speed limiter want to keep , rev limiter want to keep, engine breaking want to keep, also reusable filter help with anything like power or not enough to make it worth it.

The exup is disabled by default on the flash. I'm sure you can email or call 2WDW and I'm sure they can only do specific things to the flash if that's what you want them to do. Not sure if it'll be any extra charge as they'll have to make a custom flash rather than just plug it in and slap the flash on. If you want to keep all that stuff then don't bother with a flash would be my suggestion. Reusable filters are great as long as you properly maintain them. K&N tend to be junk all around so look for a better quality one like BMC and I'm sure there's others.

Thanks for the reply, the 3 things I would like to keep are mainly safety like not over Rev and blow up motor, I don't need to ride past 130 or 150 On a naked bike. Engine breaking is supermoto thing I back the rear tire in sometimes. But I want any power I can get up to 45 to 90 where I ride in the twistys Mainly just the fun factor who doesn't want more power if they whatever speeds they ride at.
I'll get a good airfilter no k and n got it.
I'll spend the money on just a few hp gain why not, I will not be buying a pipe anytime soon nobody makes one I want, why hasn't anyone made a pre baffle mid pipe like the leo but bigger the a great sounding not to loud and doesn't cost over a grand and looks close to stock or stealth

Graves makes what looks to be the longest (and probably quietest) silencer.
I'd email whoever you want to get a flash from (2WDW seems to be the popular one) and tell them what you have and what you want and see what they recommend.

Graves was my first choice when it came to my fz09 exhaust I ended up going with the Akra ti and was very happy with it. I meant spend a couple of bills on a flash is worth it , the grave is is way out there on price and the long can looks odd to me no offense to anyone who has one just not my taste is all . So ill try out the stock for now until I come across some 10 with different pipes maybe get a better idea on what I like.
I would like to get the flash soon before I start to ride a lot come this spring. I did email 2wdw but have not heard back yet, I figured I could get alot answered on this forum wich I have learned a lot I'm just a little hesitant on mailing off my ECU until I'm a 100 % sure
What is the best air filter I can get for the 10? and if stock is best then fine my bike has only 2500 miles on it. I guess I'll look up that thread next .

My bike is flashed by 2wdw and I’m running the stock filter! High flow filters let to much dust into the motor also!

That looks good but it looks loud also , I'm trying to get around a 100 db if possible half way to what I have now with 8 delkevic 104 w/baffle in and stock I understand is around 95dbs I don't want to wear ear plugs and even more a cop warning waiting with Lazer. Who knows I may like yhe stock sound I have not heard it yet.
And air cleaner ,stock sounds good also . I've been off-road all my life plus run heavy equipment I run pre filters on everything.

Also not all high flow filters let more dust in. K&N certainly does - that's a proven fact. Others are much better. Plus if you let 2WDW know you have a high flow filter they'll set the tune for it. Now if you get a tune for stock and then change it it'll mess things up

It's decently loud, not obnoxious though. A lot of people also seem to remove the air baffle that lets air into the airbox as it sits close to the filter and seems to only end up using a small portion of the filter. Taking this out lets the air use more of the filter at the expense of some extra intake noise. This guy even took a Dremel to the airbox to open it up even further but that's going a little beyond in my opinion. He's also got a sound clip witht he Graves system www.fz-10forum.com/threads/racer172s-build.2377/#post17505

Good info , I'm so into and getting power with out compromising engine reliability, this bike as it sits has the most power I've ever had.
.It's so much fun the most I've had on street this far. I'm in 3 mode and 2 on TCS and I hit it hard on my on ramp with a slight down hill like I used to with my fz09 and wow the 09 would come in 3 and thats about it , this bike comes up light in 4th at 100 amazing it is. Again I don't think it's been flashed but I did set up the suspension per how I did it with the 09 but still a little stiff for me.
I'm going to soften it up a little maybe it will not cone up so easily then. I'm just loving it and buying something every week on it greasing the economy. She a keeper for awhile I've had a lot of bikes Yamaha has always been good to me.

I haven't seen much here on the forum from them other than the sales, your best bet is to email them and let them know you're a forum member. I don't have any experience with the active tuner but I recall seeing a few instances of people not having very good luck with them.

I did get in touch with 2wdw and sending off my ECU Monday. Installed stock exhaust and happy with the sound in garage on stand. I plan on going for a ride this weekend so I will have a better idea on if I like the stock sound plus a seat of the pants power difference after I get the ECU back.

I did forget to mention my spring on the exup vavle holds it closed so I just removed it and safety wired it open. Also bought the tune from 2wdw I did not ask about how much torque it will add witch is more important the hp to me. Anyone know how much torque it will add down low where it's the most fun thanks.

ECU is back and went for a ride and wow what a difference , big gain in power for sure . I did notice that its seems a lot more touchy where it was flat before 4 to 6k I wonder if yamaha did that on purpose with mapping with all the complaints who knows Ill just get used to the power in that area . Totally worth it very happy to 2WDW
