It happened . Out for a trackday and had a bud put my bike on a rearstand while I held it up. Big mistake. He missed the spool and scratched whats gotta be one of the better looking swingarms in production. It's a 2017 Matte Raven Black. I found the follow Colorrite colors; -"Matte Raven Black": tank, side "wing" fairings below the seat, a few front fairings, front fender (Colorrite code 5295) -"Dark Gray Metallic G": tank shrouds, side fairings (Colorrite code 5205) -"Yamaha Black (YB)": main frame, fork bottoms (Colorrite code 0033) Unfortunately, the swingarm is not one of these colors. It appears to be the same color as the clutch cover. As far as I know all FZ/MT-10s use this same color for the swingarms sans the SP. I would rather fix it than cover it with something. I called Yamaha US and they referred me to Colorrite. Anyone ever find the correct color?

Strip it, give a brushed finish and a clear coat.

Strip it, give a brushed finish and a clear coat. That would look awesome!

hooli Polished aluminum on the SP definitely looks good and brushed may also, but I'm partial to the stock color scheme. I'll keep looking and will post the color if I find it. I'm sure a lot of FZ/Empty-10 owners would like to know to.

I just got back from a Yam dealership and compared paint colors. An 09 and 10 were next to each other and the color in question is identical. I'll order Colorrite 0582 and the matte finish clearcoat they recommend. Will post the results when all is said and done.

I've used some of their paint on my Street Triple and it came out great!

Results are in. I think all things considered it looks pretty good. It was difficult to apply it evenly to the vertical surface of the swingarm, but the color match looks 9/10. Maybe it has slightly less flake. That may be because it reflects light differently because it is slightly raised compared to the rest of the paint. The little chip repair on the passenger pegs looks great. It was easier to apply and was a smaller chip. Colorrite said I needed a special matte clearcoat but I tested it and it doesn't match, so just use the Yam Mat Black #2 (0582). If you've got some rim chips or scuffed bar ends, Yam Low Gloss Black (0098) looks great. Fun fact, the pen is 1/2 fl oz and was $16. That means its selling for $2048 per gallon! It looks fantastic! Definitely way better than than the Sharpie I've been using to try and mask the couple scratches! Thanks for updating us on the results, it's super helpful!

Old post but ever relevant. Considering how it is pretty much impossible to match surface applying color match touch up paint with a little brush? I wonder if it would make more sense to just get a somewhat close pleasing match using a rattle can and just prep and paint the entire arm....then from that point on you know you can match it perfectly. Some of the automotive color match spray cans I used to buy at Pep Boys looked pretty darn good but even better is a quality brand rattle can paint IF there is a color that works ...if you cant match paint exact enough for a nice touch up? The better option IMHO is something close enough and then coat the entire piece I have done this multiple times in the past with silver painted swingarms, brackets, kickstands etc and you would have to know and really gawk at the piece to suspect it of being a rattle can job....the downside of course is it is more fragile than factory paint but then again like I say you can touch it up perfectly anytime you need to just sand mask and shoot ...maybe a heat gun to carefully bake it on a bit ...I admit this is only viable for components not gas tanks and fairings ....although matte black has to be one of the easiest to have any chance pulling off with a rattle can! I just painted an old fiberglass R1 fender to use temporarily on my 23 MT-10 as I have the forks on and off right now and dont want the wear and tear on the perfect brand new carbon fiber fender I have for it ....I literally spent less than an hour sanding and painting that old fiberglass fender with some random matte black paint (krylon maybe?) I bought years ago for something else...it actually looks fine ...as long as you dont stare at it lol ....and I COULD have done a much nicer prep job it just was not worth the effort seeing how short a time it will be on there

If you're going to go through the trouble of pulling and prepping the arm for paint just powder coat it. Looks better and is much more durable.
