Has anybody tried to make the underseat exhaust work from the R1 that came that way? I'm not meaning the OEM but the Ackrapovic, Graves or one of the other designs. I always liked that look but know it would take some fabrication on the 10.

Nobody does that anymore, and that's for good reasons . It looks cool... but only if you use TWO freaking cans, adding even more weight high up. Plus it makes riding in hot climates unbearable, plus the insulation looks like crap. I'd save your money for other worthwhile mods .

You also may end up smelling like a gas can, especially if de-catted. I had a Honda 919 with under seat pipes. Every time I rode it I ended up stinking.

Actually, I'm not worried about the extra weight up high although I understand it can be a negative for racing, I just like that look. I'm not going to go that route because of cost though. I do believe that MV Agusta still has a model or 2 that use that design though. Anyway, thanks for the input guys!

The original exhaust from 2004-2008 R1 will not fit due to swingarm. The only way is to find old ixils developped for FZ1.

What i worry about is that youve got lines with brake fluid running down the right side of the rear fender. There is a risk (id say even quite a large risk) that you might end up boiling your brake fluids.
On race cars you need to put a heat shield on your brake fluid reservoir to prevent the engine block boiling your brake fluid. The brake lines have way less fluid in them so they boil easyer, the exhaust would likely run closer and the exhaust is hotter. Sounds like a recipie for disaster to me.

Yea,I think under seat exhaust would look really cool on the mt but you would need to fabricate everything from the headers back.the real problem is the heat yamaha,s run hot you would get 10 miles and realize This is a bad idea,I had a 2006 r1 I loved that bike for about the first half hour of riding, then i couldnt wait to get off MAN that thing would just roast me.
