Done around 200 miles on my 16 plate mt10 there, just purchased last month, the last owner has played around with the suspension a bit, I find it quiet hard and setting this ain't my strong point, any pointers? I'm 5ft 7ish and 13 stone, also is the yamaha comfort seat worth the money, as my lower back gives me a bit of pain after 100 miles or so, cheers

I thought the comfort seat was worth it. Def not as numb and much better when 2up.

I would seek out a professional suspension tuner. My guy does my suspension for a mere $40. Sets the suspension to my riding style, height and weight, tires I use, etc. To me, its the best money you can spend equal to the value of the extreme benefit you will see in how much better the bike will handle.
And yes, comfort seat is a big improvement. I think its overpriced, especially because of the issue with the seat corners tearing. I would try to seek out a used one.

I have the comfort seat for 2 up riding and Seat Concepts for when I'm alone. They are both great options for the rock hard stock seat..

Just set your sag and start from there. Its easy enough to do once you have watched a few vids and read enough articles to understand the basics Or what Redandblack says

No reason to pay someone else to adjust your preload or set sag... slightly technical and requires two people but something anyone can do themselves. Things only get complicated when you add luggage/weight. Nothing worse than having to pull out a spanner just to grab groceries... GD nickel and dime bullshit.
Compression, HS Compression & Rebound are entirely different. Drop $30 on this single paperback that you will keep/study/reference for the rest of your days. Every rider worth their salt must eventually learn to adjust their own suspension... or invest in dynamic semi-active or active $u$pen$ion.

I have the factory comfort seat. It's not only more comfy, it adds about an inch worth of legroom. I'm an extra tall dwarf at 5' 3" so everything I ride has plenty of legroom, but the benefits for taller riders would be noticeable. As to its quality, after 16k miles there is no fading. The upholstery at the corners in the front of the seat that make contact with the tank have worn off. I applied black silicone and it has prevented further wear. Its an easy thing to resell if you want to make back some of your investment, just don't sell the original.
