Not quite ready for a tune just yet.
I want to remove the AIS system components for now and the only place I found a resistor for the Solenoid is through Smart Moto in Greece.
Anyone run this resistor setup without issue? It looks like the extra air is injected before the o2 sensors via the valve cover?

I looked at it this way, to buy blockoff plates (that must include the cap off hose) and the AIS buddy, you're already a good third of the price there to an ECU flash. ECU flash will disable the AIS system. So really, unless you want the "weight reduction" which is insignificant, it seems like an unnecessary cost if you're going to flash the ECU.

You're right. I don't wanna replace any of the exhaust yet, but will at some point.
The biggest reason I'd want the tune is more to fix the notchy throttle and perhaps some secondary stuff like getting the radiator fans to activate sooner.

I did the plates last week, and my bike is all stock. All I did was clip the plug off the AIS solenoid and soldered and heat shrink the wires together. I have maybe 400 miles since the install with no issues at all. It actually seams to run better, probably my imagination.

Although I went with a local tuner and we worked on a map together and with another one of my friends who has the FZ so I got something more betterester for my riding style

Hey Nice!
I went ahead and splurged for the 2W tune with stock exhaust. The price was very good so I went for the Blipper too. So much for trying to keep it stock.

Talking with the guy at 2WDW their tune disables the AIS system and you don’t need to install the block off plates because the system is a normally closed one. I’d say save yourself the hassle of tearing the bike apart and just send your ecu off to 2 wheel dyno works for their tune. My bike has been night and day better since the tune. The improvement in throttle response and on/off throttle smoothness is worth the cost of the tune alone.

Did you go with the exup valve wired open on your tune? That’s the way I went and I couldn’t be happier. I also chose the reduced engine braking option. Bike behaves like a perfectly tuned carb bike. If you’ve never experienced what that’s like it’s smoooooth makes butter jealous it’s so smooth. lol

I had before MT09 and clog pipe from air box to ais. Is easiest idea for turn off ais. After is only less shots from aftermarket exhaust, besides I didn't notice anything else (but maybe exhaust tip have less temp).

The MT-09 is different. It’s ais system isn’t a normally closed one like the FZ/MT-10 is. All you need is the flash yo eliminate it. No block off plates necessary unless you want to.

Old thread, I know...I removed my AIS after I had the ECU sent for flashing. I don't have a solenoid plug, will it throw a CEL when I reinstall the ECU without the plug? Thanks

Can I ask a question why would you block off AIS with stock exhaust? And if you removed your stock exuast from the cat back you would need a tune it for the lean condition right and if you tune or flash it that would cut AIS out so what am I missing here. I guess if you have the on-board programmer the block off maybe needed . I just always scratch my head when I hear about block off plates and what pain they to install inlighten me please I must be missing something..

The main reason for removing the system is to de clutter the airbox and valve cover area to make future maintenance easier. Yes it can be tuned out and left in place but that kinda defeats the purpose of modding (imo). No need to touch it if you don't want to and you leave your exhaust stock.
