I recently bought a 2016 mt 10. I’ve only done 400 miles since I purchased it from the dealer. I went to start the bike up after a week of not using it and I have nothing! The dash won’t come on, no ticking sounds as if the battery is dead. I’ve took the battery out and charged it. Checked the fuses. Still have nothing. I contacted the dealer the other day because my chain had come off whilst riding it. Was meant to take it back but now on lockdown. Now this! Any ideas?? Thanks

Chain came off??? You bought it used, I assume? Doesn't sound like a well maintained bike. If battery has enough power to light up the dash, and it doesn't, I'd check ALL fuses first. If no luck, then you'd have more serious problems than the battery. But I'd also replace the battery, since the bike is already 4+ years old. Chain breakage might have caused damage to electrical wiring/components. At any rate, you need to post A LOT more details, if you want more useful help. Good luck.

Yeah the chain came off whilst pulling away from traffic lights. Went up into second and it popped off. Didn’t break. Managed to get it back on and ride it home. I have been out on it once since then. The bike is second hand has 10000miles on it. Sorry for the lack of details. Only passed my test last year so new to all the mechanics. The battery said it had a full charge so I put it back in the bike. Checked the ignition fuse, swapped it for a spare . Turned the key and still nothing. I’ll be ringing the dealer first thing! Cheers

When you turned off the bike did you put it in "P" mode? If you spin the key a bit past the steering lock mode it will go into park mode and drain the battery.

It's a bad battery. You said no dash lights came on. Chargers generally don't give you the condition of the battery.

That will give you a true indication of battery condition. Dealer should be able to load test the battery. Worked in a large Yamaha dealership in parts & saw many supposedly fully charged batteries fail a load test.

Agree, battery is shot. Is the bike new? If so it is under warranty, if not just buy a new one. My 08/16 build date's battery crapped out two months ago.

Battery. Especially if it sat at the dealer a little while.
