Dudes,
I removed the engine mount bolts to install a set of sliders but the one side it appears that the motor dipped down a bit and the holes don't line up...what the solution to this? Jack motor up from underneath or am I screwed?

Yes you have to jack up the motor, you need to do just one side at a time, never remove both bolts at the same time.

Basically this. Do not let that engine sit while you try to find/borrow a jack. Put some blocks of wood or something under to stop it from continuing to sink

i was able to get the bolts in with the use of a jack. why is it bad to let it sit without the bolts? could the motor drop out?

The motor won't fall out, but will strain the other mount bolts.

Exactly! The bolts are designed to spread the weight of the engine out. By taking out two points, you put a tremendous amount of weight on the remaining motor mounts, possibly warping or bending bolts/threads/etc.
Probably not too huge of a worry for a few hours, but I definitely wouldn't leave the bike like that for a long time.

Hey OP, you didn't strain the other 2 engine mounts at all (just look at them; they were holding the same weight), so don't worry about that. But the bad news is what was holding your engine in place was the EXHAUST, so just check that nothing was bent. And I'd also loosen and retorque all header bolts and engine mounts, one by one, as a precaution. Then when you fire up the engine, check that you have no exhaust leaks. But you should be fine . And yes, next time do one at a time, retorque it, and move to the next. Good luck.

Sorry elptxjc, that's wrong. The engine won't move enough to bend the exhaust. There are two rear frame mounts attaching the engine, so the engine will want to rotate around the upper of those mounts, putting rearward pressure on the lower mount. At the most the motor will drop down 1/8" to 3/16" at the front. There are also woven mesh joints at the header to cat connection, and rubber isolator mounts at 3 different locations on the cat. Even if you have a mid pipe, there is still an isolator mount under the frame. All of these will allow the pipes to move a small amount. The pipes probably did help to prop the motor up some, but damage them? I doubt it. Pipe can flex without damage more than you think.

And remember, under load when running, the engine and frame are all moving about to some degree as rpm's change and attitude of the frame changes, it's not a 100% rigid structure. It's slight, but you can feel the vibrations when applying power and a lot of that is being transferred through the engine, frame and connecting bolts. OP will be alright but it is never good practice to remove more than one bolt at a time unless you are planning to drop the engine.
