Hi guys. I am new to the world of MT10's (FZ10's for non Australian folk). Anyways, loving the 2016 model I have recently got and it is a beast. A question for anyone that can help is "Is my bike flashed". Obviously you will not know for sure but I am hoping that with the below details someone of more knowledge may be able to deduce with more certainty than me:
1. Cat has been removed from the bike and has a pipewerx exhaust tip installed. 2. Thermo fan comes on at around 95c (from my research this is not stock and only a flash can do this as 104c is the oem temp - or thereabouts) 3. Parking light function does not work (function further turn after steering lock)
Points 2 and 3 indicate to me some customization has gone on as I am unaware how this would be achieved without this.
Now I am not to concerned if the bike has been flashed or not as it rides fine and has heaps of power and is smooth. However I am concerned about doing engine damage without the cat and back pressure if it has not been tuned. I do not want to get it tuned if it has obviously been done and also if there is no chance of damage if it has not.
If anyone knows for sure if having no cat and no flash will do no damage, I am happy to keep things the way it is and ride on. I look forward to all your advice.
Thank you all.

Welcome to the forum!!!!
I'm not an expert and really can't answer if having or not having a flash can cause damage. Obviously if you put a wrong flash in, say for a wrong bike, you can fuck the engine up. But as far as not having a flash while having the cat, I don't think that normally damages the engine. It just saps power because our bikes are severely limited because of sound and gas emissions that are put in place with an expected amount of backpressure.
Usually, when you flash the ECU of an FZ, the Quickshifter "light" turns on on the display. I dunno how 100 % this is across the different countries and models, but that's usually an easy way to see if one is flashed, that QS "light" will be on

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have an aftermarket quickshifter on there at present so the light is on and unfortunately not a tell tale.

I think the ECU needs to be flashed for that quickshifter to be activated in the ECU. Or at least you need to access the ECU to turn the Quickshifter on. I don't think the quickshifter is plug and play.
I could be wrong.

Welcome. First, the 'QS' light is always on when QS is activated, so that means only 2016 (Europe only) and 2017 bikes might not have it on, since the QS is optional. I put an OEM one on my bike since day 1, and had to activate it, so it now has the 'QS' light on all the time, as it's supposed to.
Second, the 'parking' position doesn't turn any lights on anymore. It only allows the hazard lights to operate if needed... but you're not supposed to use that position since it discharges the battery quicker, even if you don't turn the hazards on (parasitic losses), as an FYI. And it's in the owner's manual, by the way .
And finally, running catless without a tune ruins the engine eventually, since pistons get too hot, due to excessively lean conditions. They score the cylinder walls at first, until they finally seize. As far as knowing if your ECU is tuned, I have no idea how to tell for certain, so maybe somebody else can give you pointers on that. But make sure it is, or put it back to stock. Hope this helps.

I don't think the quickshifter is plug and play. I could be wrong. '16 & '17 Models that didn't come with GYTR QS - All you had to do was plug them up and then activate the QS function through a procedure on the dash / ignition & and shifter simultaneously (in the manual).
