This will be the last thing I make for the bike, I might not use them at all, just experimental at this stage. The left one is pretty easy, I still have to get flat head sockets for the heel guards, and since I F'd this one up on the bottom frame tab I want to remake this one anyway, to get the fit tighter where it attaches to the frame. 3/8" thick, heel guards are 3/16" Pegs are Flo Motorsports copies, they fit HD Dyna's etc. but I machined off the ends to fit my application. The right side will be more difficult, but I already have it all figured out in my mind.

OK first step to making the right side-the rough cut. You can see the outline of the part, this is about 1/8" larger all around just to get the shape. The frame side mounting holes are in the exact spots I need to drill, the other holes are close, but will be measured out when it's time. The two torn out spots on the template are where the posts in the back of the rearset are located to secure the springs for the brake lever and switch. At this point all I want to do is get the shape close and remove what I don't want. Now the rough shape is cut out and frame holes drilled, time to take the stock rearset off and start the fitting process, this could take a while.

Cool parts! I didn’t realize the sheets are so expensive.

Cool parts! I didn’t realize the sheets are so expensive. Yup, pricey. The brake is on and working, but of course no return spring yet, still have to make the two "posts" to hook up the stuff on the back of the plate, and get the footpeg and heel plate attached. Here is what the finished project should look like, I have ordered some material to make the standoffs/inserts to attach the springs/brackets behind the rearset which should be here Monday.

Alright, lets finish up. I got some 3/8" diameter 7075 rod to use for standoffs to mount the brake light switch and return spring. Not the prettiest things, but they get the job done: This is what's going on behind the rearset, the big ugly triangle on the bottom is an M8 T-nut which mounts the footpeg: Well, that's it for this project, but I've decided to go another route as far as rearsets go, this was simply an exercise to see if I could build them, from now on all updates will be in the Member Gallery section.
