I've noticed on pictures no other 2017 fz10 has this bottom piece on it. I think it adds to the bike and looking at the others it looks weird to me now. or is this something they were doing at one point?

Yes. It is an aftermarket piece.

How do like the EVR pipe? is it to loud? I'm assuming your bike has a flash tune?

it has that auto tuner yahama thing on it which I guess always auto tunes it? . I am so new to this bike I cannot give you any information. I put only about 300 miles on it since I got it a few weeks ago. I came from a 06 gsxr1000 and I can tell you this thing is a bullet from 0-100mph, lifts the wheel in 3rd gear. After 100 though its not nearly as loud as my gsxr was so compared to stock? not sure He sent the ECU to 2wheeldynoworks to have the fuel map tune put on it and I spoke with them today (awesome awesome people) the guy was on the phone with me for over 10 minutes. I had some concern about the idle as it hunts a little, between 1100-1200 rpms, but said that was normal sometimes with the graves exhaust. I guess this system still uses the butterfly valves many others dont?

I wonder if that's why I feel heat blowing on my legs/feet at a red light, or is that just FZ10 land I'd say it's that thing. I feel nothing like you describe, and I use short boots with Kevlar jeans, and live in hot TX. I'd remove it, and sell it. Don't like how it looks either; doesn't go with the bike IMO. Welcome to the family .

what is that piece called? It's called a belly pan, never stock on this model so past owner added it. Looks like an Ermax brand pan (French). Some look better than others, I don't think they work that well on the -10's design, but to each their own. It may trap and funnel heat, they all work differently. Take it off and see if it helps.

I'll take some pics from different angles, it goes so well with the bike IMO that is why I thought it was on them all. Actually I'll do some before and after shots and we can all compare. from the front and front angles it looks right IMO.

The bad side of aftermarket parts like that is that you alter the function of the bike, and not in a good way. If your bike was stock, you'd surely be overheating the cats. Since it's not, who knows. But it's not good you're feeling heat like that; it means it's still getting trapped under there. I'm a function over form guy, but to each his own.

I am too. Although I do like the look, again thought they all had this. I will try taking it off and see if I feel the heat. Something tells me its normal, I've read about how people feel the heat on this bike all over the place.
Mine is the radiator fans, its blowing it through the radiator and it some how is forced down, hitting the ground and bouncing back up at my legs.

Some guy on here had issues with his belly pan after going to the track, so hopefully yours has clearance. It does look excellent on the bike.

yea no clearance issues. I haven't gone down to a knee though so who knows. I do agree it looks excellent. I swore it was stock, it just looks like its designed for it.

Hey all, I know I'm answering to an old thread but anyhow. The bottom fairing is called a belly pan and it's sold ( made) by airmax ( french company). I've also installed it and personally I quite like it! Regarding the heat thing. Well, I bought mine in summer ( Greece) and rode it 600Km in two days. The heat comes through when the radiator fan starts to work and blows all the heat right to your ankles. It was not the belly pan. When I installed the bellypan, there was no change with the heat "torch" in summer. the MT get's quite warm ( mine hovering around 100 degrees C) when stuck in traffic and its summer. But when it moves even a km or so, temp drops down to 75-80 and the heat "torch" is gone!
