Im looking to do some light modding on my 18 mt10, i dont want to void my warranty though. Is a power commander+auto tuner the best option if i decat and dont want to flash my ecu? Worst case scenario ill probably just get a graves slip on till i am ready to risk my warranty lol.

I could be wrong, I've never personally dealt with this, but it is my understanding that any messing around with fuel management will void your warranty. Now you can remove all of that stuff and play dumb, say if you blew an engine. But you could also return an ECU to stock if you needed to before submitting it for major warranty work.

OP, you're correct any tampering with the fuel system would be grounds to void your powertrain warranty. However, with a Power Commander (or similar fueling device downstream of the ECU), it COULD be undetectable to Yamaha if you remove everything. And by that I mean if you're careful with the installation, not altering anything. With an ECU flash, you irreversibly violate the electronic seal on the ECU, and even if you flash it back to stock, Yamaha could easily know if they ask a dealer for the download (which is typically what happens with a powertrain warranty claim). So the least of the 2 evils is definitely a fuel module like the PC. I personally don't mess with any of that at all anymore, even after warranty. But I'd wait for any of that after your warranty is over, especially since we've heard of a few blown engines. Just in case . Hope this helps.

I know dozens of people who have flashed their ECU's and taken the bikes in for warranty work on the engine/clutch, never once has a claim been denied even WITH the flash still on the bike. I even know several techs that work at dealerships and have told me they've never once been asked for that to file a warranty claim.
